This particular event known as "Dambe" takes place in the northern region of Nigeria and the one you see here was shot in kano, one of many states in northern Nigeria. It's a traditional boxing, but as you can see, it's unlike modern boxing. With Dambe, emphasis is placed on striking with one arm, the intent of which is to drop one's opponent and you are declared the winner. In the event of no knockdown, points could be scored for individual fighters based on punches connected and how well they force their opponents to retreat from attacking and throwing blows.

Question: would it be against the rules if one of the fighters would lead with his wrapped arm? In other words, could he lead so that he could Jab at his opponent? If thrown with power, that Jab can really mess up a person, and then follow it up with a hook to the body then up to the chin. Jab Jab, Hook to Body, Hook to Chin, and blocking with the free hand the whole time. Is that against the rules, or would it just not work?

@@Xformat01, you can do whatever you want with the hand wrapped and block with the free hand but never attack or strike with it.

That rule is only applied during competition but in normal matches you are free to move around the arena no boundary
