"Man About the House" is a classic British sitcom that originally aired from 1973 to 1976. The show follows the lives of three young flatmates, Chrissy, Jo, and Robin, who live together in a London flat. The sitcom's premise, considered quite risqué for its time, revolved around the comedic misunderstandings and situations that arose from their co-ed living arrangements.
The primary cast members of "Man About the House" included Paula Wilcox as Chrissy, Sally Thomsett as Jo, and Richard O'Sullivan as Robin.

Yootha Joyce was such a gifted actress. Real life for Yootha, who gave so much joy, wasnt so bright. Which is a great shame, yet for all of us who watched her, will never forget her! Rip YJ❤⭐️🇬🇧

Yootha was the best for the role in both Man About the House and George and Mildred. No one wouldve done better. Its just a shame that her character was a misandrist who felt good about belittling her husband. Would love to see a sitcom with the roles reversed and see how far it got.

I used to live next to the nursing home Richard O'Sullivan lives in.Its basically a retirement home for actors who are down on their luck.He was one of my favourite actors as a kid.Dick Turpin was the best thing he did.Apparently all the Man about the House cast are still good friends to this day.

I worked in the early 70’s at the then Thames Television in Teddington Lock on programmes such as Magpie, Paperplay with Itsy & Bitsy, Rock Follies, Quick On The Draw (with the now tainted Rolf Harris) and this programme. And l can honestly say Yootha Joyce and Brian Murphy were truly lovely humble people ❤️ The girls at that time were in their primes so were a bit up their own oneness and Richard O’ Sullivan was mostly quiet and never said much at all

Sally Thomsett didn’t play an intelligent character in Man about the house, quite the opposite! It was sad that Youtha Joyce died a lonely alcoholic but Brian Murphy remained her one true friend right until the end, he was the only one at the hospital with her when she died.

At junior school in the days these series were shown. Perhaps the best ITV comedies on at the time. The "Doctors" series the best before that along with "On the Buses". "Robins Nest" was O'Sullivans other best series in the late '70's. Sally Thomsett perhaps the most attractive British actress on tv at the time. "George and Mildred" another classic, Mildred not someone to mess with. Admit I did not realise that were adapted for US TV. Great memories all the same.

My family home was next door to Brian Murphy's house, in Caversham near Reading Berks, he was a notorious local alcoholic, often staggering around near the Church Street shopping area and making a nuisance of himself in the off license. He was regularly brought home by the police, and my Father once found Brian upside down in a garden bush next to our greenhouse, with urine and faeces trousers. Although I must say, that during periods of sobriety, Brian was the finest fellow you could ever have the pleasure of meeting.

There are so many incorrect facts in this video, so it's a thumbs down from me. 0:42 - Man About The House wasn't made in the 60's it started in 1973. 1:05 - Doctor in the House isn't a drama it's a sitcom and started in 1971 so BEFORE Man About the House. 1:27 he wasn't in Carry on Loving, I think you've mixed up Richard O'Sullivan with Richard O'Callaghan whose name appears in that poster you're showing. Richard O'Sullivan was in Carry on Teacher in 1959 but NOT in Carry on Loving, this is probably why he did a DVD commentary 1:49 for Carry on Teacher and that's the one he was actually in.

I met Paula Wilcox in the upstairs of a pub in the London theatre district, just behind St. Martin's-in-the-Field Church, in about 1981. So, Paula has my vote purely on the favourable impression she made on personal acquaintance..

I loved Man about the House, and George & Mildred. Another spin off ROBIN'S NEST was equally as hilarious. Every one of the characters of the shows aforementioned were integral to the respective shows. Their comedy was INCOMPARABLE! As for the American show There is Company; NO THANKS. There is one thing Americans cannot do, and that is to mimic British Comedy. I find it impossible to watch any American comedy. The delivery is lame, and that bloody canned laughter is unbearable. Sorry, but that is my verdict.
