TonyBrainerdMN. Codes and safety are everyone's business. I'm a Coloradoan, I lived in Bailey about 8 mi. from Conifer, a mtn town about 20 mi. west of Denver. We are in a severe drought with a limited water supply. Forest fires are of major concern. The deadfall from aspens and pines is a tinderbox waiting to explode. Clem here went and had all his improvements installed on the property, so I think once he's in compliance of fire safety, zoning, and code he should be able to move forward. I would suggest to anyone buying land in the Rocky Mountains to plan better and be aware of hazards, requirements and restrictions. All that information is free.

I get the public health concerns, but on a property this size most of those concerns do not translate to a public threat or nuisance. If they want to guide him on better placement of his equipment to prevent a fire, I get it, so advise him on things that actually affect public safety. Even if he was sleeping in a trailer, how would that differ from a tent? There are so many arguments of substance to have on these overly abusive rules/regs/laws.

The Constitution protects people from the government. But corporations don't have to follow those rules.

This is the same government that says “we will end homelessness! Now give us more tax money.”

They'd better end homelessness, they certainly could in a heartbeat, for a lot less than you think.

If he can't afford to move his equipment, how can he afford to build a house there?

buy supplies and build his own house?? moving everything with trucks would cost about the same as supplies to build a small house

Eminent domain the neighbor and protest the summons on lack of jurisdiction. Codes and statutes are not law. Common law and UCC are the law of the land.

"Common law and UCC" ... LMAO! See how far THAT gets you when the cops slap cuffs on you and drag you to court. My elderly aunt and a friend tried it ... and it didn't work out well. LOL!

I looked at buying land in Colorado and build a tiny home. Apparently, they had an onslaught of folks plopping down RVs on a lot and calling it home. Some were nice, some were trashed. I'm in Wyoming

The person who made the complaint should be charged with trespassing and put in jail. It is people like him that makes the country not so great.

Terrible leave the man alone to do as he pleases on his own land. Officials want to kick him off his land and if he was homeless in the streets they would want to kick him off public spaces. I hope someone can help him get this settled. Better yet hopefully those officials use some common sense and take his situation into account. He is obviously trying to set up the land to live there.
