01.10.2022 | 5:28 AM | ANAHEIM - Anaheim Police And Fire responded to a report of a man inside a gas station.
Caller was reporting that a man was in the mini market area attempting to set the store on fire.
Firefighters arrived to find the station fully involved with fire.
The suspect was taken into custody by police and was transported to a local hospital with smoke inhalation.
At this time it is unknown how the man got inside the station at this time.
It took firefighters 15 minutes to knock down the fire.
The store clerk suffered some smoke inhalation but refused treatment.

I'm big in equal punishment, but that would be excessive. Setting fire to everything HE owns would be justice. If he set someone on fire, then setting him on fire would be justified.

I don't think anyone noticed but the REAL SCARY PART is there are two Cages of Propane Gas Tanks in the FIRE !(aka: "Blu Rhino)

I noticed. But those 20lb tanks really aren't all that bad. ( Yes, you still absolutely don't want to play with them..) But, they have pressure relief valves on the opposite side of the hookup nozzle to let them vent a bit of gas if the internal pressure gets too much ( from heat or over fill) and if ignited they'll just burn off like a small blowtorch until the internal pressure stabilizes. HOWEVER, if the internal pressure doesn't stabilize ( because too much continuous heat or the relief valve is inoperable) they will BLEVE and I, too was first yelling at the screen for them to get some water on those tanks but after seeing the area of impingement wasn't as concerned. TL:DR Yes, those can be bad indeed. Luckily these tanks weren't getting as much heat as it looked, and they were designed for that.

Glad the employee made out as good as he did. Great work by the firefighters, police, and others. Thank you for your work. Could have gone a lot worse than it did. I refuse to work in retail now because of a similar incident I went through years ago.

This happened to a cenex in Spokane a few years ago after a man was chased by police ran into the store leading to a standoff. The burned shell of the store was never rebuilt, it just sits boarded and fenced.

Besides structural damage, it couldn't have been any worse, almost a total loss. And you can't blow the pumps up from the outside because the gas is underground.

I assume the perp used gasoline purchased from that station, to then go and become an arsonist. Hope he gets decades in prison (but he won't). Seems some kind of accelerant must have been used.

For future reference, a fire extinguisher with a hose makes an excellent flail weapon empty or full. Also full of perp-blinder and choker-outer. I got hit with a fire extinguisher that came through the flames of a huge car fire I was helping put out. Even a quarter breath of it knocks the fight right out of you, leaving a coughing squinting mess.

I live across the street and had a homeless break into my truck, and steal everything. I caught his running towards the bridge directly under the 91 and 57 Freeway behind the bus stop before the light. There’s a whole community down there and they have cut the fence to enter and exit. I’ve contacted the city code enforcement and nothing has been done. Sucks to see this happened but I’m 100% sure it was one of them from there. The crazy thing is the fire department is literally next to the gas stations

I don't get it, my crew no matter what engine I was on when we knew we were coming in on a worker my guys and every other Captains crew in our department were masked up hoods on and ready to go as soon as the engine stopped. All they had to do was plug in their SCBA. Even our squad guys were quicker. Once again ONSCENE does an excellent job. Be safe lads NEVER FORGET 343
