As many former hippie men can now contest: long hair on young men leads to thinning hair as they get older. Even pattern baldness that was NOT in their family history. As a child of the 1950s I have witnessed baldness on guys from the hippie era. The weight of long hair on their scalp literally caused roots to weaken. So shorter hair for males is always a good idea.

I agree with the last part, as for his friends, well, I think they were just trying to help their friend, and it's TV, it's gotta be hyped a bit. But let's talk about that cut! He went from cute guy with "hippy hair" to handsome, sexy guy...when he raised his eyebrows and did that smouldering look a few seconds after he turned to the audience...🔥!!!! Long hair looks great on some guys, and others suit short hair and whilst he can pull off long hair, he doesn't just pull off short hair, he makes it look really damn sexy! One thing I will deffo say though, long hair or short, that shouldn't affect whether he gets a date, but it may have as we've become shallow with the advent of tinder, grindr whatever.
