Man City players visit Royal Manchester Children's Hospital

Manchester City has continued its support of the Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital through the donation of more than 500 gift bags and blankets to children staying in the hospital over the festive period. Players from the men’s first team handed out the gift bags in person when they surprised young patients and City in the Community participants with a visit last week.

I always love seeing the yearly visits to the hospital ... it's a great reminder that our players aren't just professionals on the pitch, but they're incredible ambassadors off the pitch too. Proud to be a Cityzen and always will be.

This was so good to see and our players are so lovely, especially Jack, who truly has a heart of gold. And it makes me feel emotional seeing these poorly children, as I've been a patient myself at Sheffield Children's hospital at Christmas, way back in 1985 when I was battling leukaemia. Hats off to all our players for their kindness and wishing these children a speedy recovery.

My wife was a nurse at Birmingham children's hospital. Jack and the Aston villa players came round one day to talk to the kids. Both me and my wife despised him cause he played for the vile.... The rest of the villa players were really awkward but Jack was immense. He came round and spent at least 15 minutes with every kid, not just talking to them out of some sort of press deal, no one was there. Just because he was genuinely interested in their lives. There was a kid with severe spinal deformaties and he literally took his shirt off and signed it for him. I'll always think of him as a legend because of how he made every one of those children feel.
