As an overweight guy who was bullied repeatedly as a kid and a teen about my weight, it has destroyed my confidence and my self worth. Im 34 and have never taken my shirt off in public. I cant even do it at home. I can spend hours in front of the mirror and just end up crying. I cant get a girlfriend cause women are either repelled by fat guys or because i hate my body so much and have no confidence within myself, that girls can sense it and are turned off. Im almost at the point of sucicide.

So ironic, 'cause most of the comments below are from women. That kinda show us the lack of interest of mens into sharing our feelings, being vulnerable and all that stuff that women are so use to. I've been trying to bring those moments onto the conversations, but it's so hard! Mostly, i guess, not because of others mans, but actually because of ME. Because of my self constructed image of the emotional strong guy, the wise one, of this evolve being. So that image basically creates a shell of glass, that shows to other what i want them to see. That creates a comfort zone that can be easily shredded by being vulnerable, and to being open to conversations like those. The whole point of this episode of Man Enough, for me of course, is synthesized in being comfortable in the uncomfortable. Cheers from Brazil! (Great to see Anderson Silva there!)

I cant live my life like i want too. No girls are attracted to me and i have no confidence. I have anxiety issues cause im so scared about what ppl think of me and my body which has lead to physical problems where i sweat so much due to so much anxiety running through me. Fantastic episode!!! I definitely experienced body dysmorphia due to my own insecurities, listening to others demeaning (or probably honest in their perspective) comments, and media (magazines, internet, tv, movie theater). AND, I grew up being taught that men do not have anything to worry about anything when it comes to body image......just females. Totally false!!! Many HUMANS (both male/female/indifferent/other) experience body image issues/insecurities. Beautiful topic......thanks for uploading!!!!

This is a really good way to talk about the issues we as men face nowadays. It doesn't make it easier when stories and movies describe the ideal body of a prince or a king. As a student, this has an effect on me, and I'm truly happy to be following this series and discuss topics that men are too nervous to talk about. But one thing is clear, change is happening. At university, more guy students are aware of these issues and are willing to talk about it. We just need that little push in that direction. Thank you so much for the series!

It is easy to make assumptions on someone when one doesn't take the time to ask or even listen. And that, as a woman, I am guilty of. So Thank you x

I also feel like there is even a deeper level of body-image-issues that has to do with ethnicity. While I find his face absolutely handsome, I get the nose-issues, because my face looks kind of like his (except I'm female). In the past couple of months I realised that most of my body-image-issues don't actually derive out of sexism, but rather out of racism. Like, I'll avoid anything that makes me look more like an immigrant. For example: too much jewellery, too bold colours, too much make up, acrylic nails, etc. I wonder if that's the root of his nose-issues too.

Loved this episode, and love love love the Dr. Roberto Olivardia input, would of love to hear more from him. It was really interesting to watch and hear guys thoughts and opinions about body image. The only time I felt like WTF was when Justin asked the plastic surgeon about his nose and the response was "Yeah, I would probably do it". Bloody hell, if you see a guy with a perfect face asking to "correct" something and you say "yeah, I would do it"... if that doesn't say "I will do anything as long as you pay me" than I don't know what else does. Or maybe it is just Hollywood... Justing - eat that pizza :)

His point was that, how are we going to feel good about ourselves if we use these filtres whenever we take pics? And how are we going to look at ourselves in the mirror and not feel miserable about our aspect, after seeing our "ideal" aspect in a picture? Glad that people are tking a stand about anything that does this kind of thing

Thanks again guys! I have actually been jealous of men's bodies cause you guys are usually stronger than us even if you don't go to the gym. Two of my female relatives (actually four) of them were raped and so being strong was always important to me because I did not want that to happen to me and when my Dad said that no matter much I worked out that I could still be raped it kinda crushed me. I used to work out a lot, ran for miles and miles and wrestled competitively in high school I was really surprised that you guys have this issue because your bodies seem so much better than women's bodies, especially when I consider the fact that I can't have kids so I feel like my body is useless since that was the one way that women's bodies are "better" than male bodies. Sorry if this is TMI. Thank you for educating us women on this one because I was clueless that guys felt this way!

It does affect us too, we just keep quiet about when we should be talking about it more. Media portrays unrealistic images to boys as it does girls too. We are told that we all must look like fitness models with extremely chiseled muscles to be successful in life, while i think most men can get in good shape we are not all going to look like brad pitt in fight club and that is ok, even brad pitt himself couldn't keep that body for long.

Honestly I'm really glad I gave this series a watch. I'll admit, I believed the stereotype of "Men don't think/care about their bodies! That's a woman thing!". As much as I like to think of myself as a progressive person, this is one of the things I'm going to call myself out on. As you probably guessed, yes I am a woman. And I'd be lying if I said my gender didn't affect my opinions on male body image. Until I started watching series like these, I assumed that men only thought about their bodies if they *actually* were overweight or someone who has to think of their looks all the time; like models. But I've thankfully seen the truth and man do I feel dumb. I started watching these videos a little bit before I met one of my closest male friends. He's been complaining a lot because he gained some weight over the summer and it's been bothering him. I didn't take him seriously at first due to 1) my own ignorance on the issue and 2) I didn't see that much of a difference in him. I thought he was complaining about something so trivial that only he seemed to really notice. So everytime he brought up that he wanted to lose weight or discomfort with his body I would roll my eyes and dismiss him by assuring him he looked fine. When I started educating myself, I started getting worried. I thought back to all the times he would mention some crazy diet he wanted to try or talk negatively about himself. It was then when I started realizing that to him, he was fat, and that was a problem in his eyes. I've started taking his concerns more seriously and assuring him that he's perfect as he is, extra weight and all. Hindsight is 20/20 and thinking back, had I not started validating his emotions, things could've taken a turn for the worse. My new approach is letting him know that he's a wonderful person, and that's ultimately what matters most to me about him. So now when starts saying things like "My face wasn't this wide before" or "Do you think I'd look better if I dropped a few pounds?" I respond with care and not cynicism. Everyone deserves to have their emotions be validated and feel loved/cared for. This series opened my eyes to that
