@@beerose2387 And while I was using hyperbole, I've heard from Floridian's "treat every body of water as if there's at least one gator in it, because there probably is". A small child was kidded in a Disney resort when a gator attacked him on the in-resort beach. They travel around different bodies of water too, often wind up found in swimming pools etc. You do have to be very aware of them if you're in Florida. Especially with kids and pets and near water.

NUC stands for non-uniform correction and that is when a thermal camera goes through a “calibration” process that utilizes nitrogen gas as a baseline to adjust the temperature sensitivity to the ambient conditions. I use to fly drones in the Army. This was something we did regularly enough with our FLIR.

guy with the camera seemed to me new to the role, with the 20-30 seconds of *issues* with the thermal imagery (not knowing it would need to calibrate for thermal) as well as every mistake he did he cursed himself out. Persumably the trainer, or perhaps the pilot needed to say "its alright" and "Don't worry".

The perception of some sort of crime wave is likely fueled by media’s fixation on dramatic crime related content and growing public interest in ‘true crime’ content. True, there was a dense treeline on the other side along with the railroad tracks, and the chopper wasn't going to be able to stay there much longer with the high winds. He might actually have been able to make it if he'd been a bit fitter and had all the same lucky (for him) events and failures.

Not trying to defend these criminals, but a trend I am tired of is the police saying the suspect crammed them when the officer does the ramming, or that the suspect tried to hit them when they were clearing going around the officer. Again, not defending these criminals, just don't like that kind of lying. And it could rally hurt the case in court.

The only other bad decision could have been churning up the water so much as to catch the attention of the resident gator in that pond. I realize it is a quarry and semi-fresh water, but anywhere in FL that there is water, there is some type of reptile that would happily bite or eat you. Why people run to the water in that state thinking it is a good idea is beyond me! Love the unfiltered radio traffic from the helo - those guys don't mince words.

@@kennielsen3896gives them an excuse to use deadly force when not actually necessary. I saw a body cam not too long ago where an officer jumped in front of a fleeing truck (I guess to stop the truck…) and the truck swerved out of the way so the officer wasn’t hit, but the officer radios in that the suspect almost hit him with the truck and about a minute later the suspect was gunned down by other responding officers.
