He doesn’t realize how dangerous that was. 1: the rock around the hole is ver sharp. 2: there is a powerful suction which could have taken him down to wherever it goes trapping him underneath in a cavernous space. He’d get disoriented and could drown. 3: the force of the water blowing upwards could have ejected him and he could have fallen back striking his head or breaking an arm or leg.

A blowhole is also called a marine geyser but it's not formed by geothermal activey there caves with water from the sea shoots up in them they then spray. Water high in the air but dont go in one
