I have respect for all those singers who gives a shot at Rafi Saab's songs. Because they will always fall short. And they know this very well. Knowingly they try to sing his songs. Not to outsmart him which they know they cannot. I think they strive to do their best out of sheer reverence and devotion to the man. That's why i respect Javed and scores of other Rafians.

साहिर के गीतों में गायक की आवाज़ हमेशा म्यूजिक से ज्यादा होनी चाहिए। साहिर की कविता में अद्भुत रहस्य छिपा रहता हैं। इसीलिए गायक की आवाज़ हमेशा म्यूजिक से ज्यादा होनी चाहिए। जैसे की इस गीत की सिर्फ वो लाइन ही अद्भुत है - कोई ना संग मरें।

No doubt sings very well n in one's own voice texture n set of mind regarding the mood of song. But Rafi to me was n will always remain soulful n very very soothing to ears a genius natural god gifted singer . Kishore das Toronto live in year 1982 paying tribute to Rafi Sahab n singing this song in his own style n voice too is worth listening indeed a natural genius god gifted singer too

Sahir Ludhianvi was FIRST A PHILOSOPHER who wrote poetry to convey his GOD GIVEN WISDOM & life experiences of his own to common man for his/her welfare in his poetry. Lot of unnecessary circus for a very deep philosophical song. This has to be sung with a very philosophical mood which is not at all there ...the original song was perfect. The protagonist is talking with his "mann". It has to be very delicate and soft. These days people sing all harkats without considering, bollywood singing is not some classical signing exam. One has to sing with the perfect feelings and thehrav.

Satish Kumar • Ji, that something is Rafi sahab's emotion. Rafi sahab had mastered the art of bringing out the emotions of the character the actor was playing on the screen. That's called Rafi Magic. It is impossible to recreate Rafi sahab's magic. Nevertheless Javed bhai sang the song very well . We have to encourage highly talented singers like Javed bhai who are carrying forward the legacy of the incomparable Rafi sahab.
