A man on the internet was overjoyed to learn Obamacare will likely be repealed. He thought his Affordable Care Act plan was great though. Ana Kasparian, Ben Mankiewicz, Grace Baldridge, and Aida Rodriguez, hosts of The Young Turks, discuss. Tell us what you think in the comment section below. tytnetwork.com/go
"He hated it, even cheered for its demise. To one Facebook user, Obamacare was a mistake that needs to be repealed. To that same Facebook user, Obamacare is also his health care insurer-a fact that went unknown to him until it was pointed out publicly online and spread all over in a bout of viral pointing and laughing.
This confused gentleman, whose Facebook status and comments have now been upvoted 21,000 times on Reddit and viewed 5 millions times on Imgur, came into this knowledge after sharing a C-SPAN article, titled “Senate votes 51 to 48 to repeal Obamacare,” with his Facebook friends and proclaiming this makes us “one step closer to fixing this mistake.” It wasn’t long before someone opposed his stance. A commenter wrote, “Really cool of you to treat those of us who need assistance provided by the ACA with such disregard.”

whaledog77Yesterday "Don't worry...those dumb people will blame Obama." +whaledog77 Exactly! Hell, I'll even craft the propaganda for you. Had the administration chose to follow our job creating, free market, America 1st proposals, we would not have the failure of Obamacare. It will take time for our party (GOP) to address these failures, which are now affecting more policy holders. We will replace Obamacare with a plan that will make healthcare great again for all Americans.

+Robert Nicholls So you support "emergency room" as replacement? because their replacement plan (in the works for SIX YEARS with no results) will amount to that. Also, that wonderful "voucher" or "health savings plan" idea being floated around. As with what they want to do to public education, only a small segment of our population will be able to afford either.

One Percenters aren't immune from being denied insurance coverage. They also have pre-existing conditions that make them "uninsurable." Without insurance, healthcare in the US is INCREDIBLY expensive....one illness can easily clean out a fairly wealthy person's bank account/s. Before the ACA, what did many "One Percenters" do, who needed medical treatment and couldn't get coverage? They sought treatment in other countries with reasonably priced (and higher quality) healthcare.

People voted Brexit for many ridiculous reasons including thinking it would reduce immigration from outside the EU, which we already control ourselves and is actually higher than from EU countries. Immigrants to the UK collectively put more money into our economy as taxes than they receive in benefit payments, whereas our native British people collectively receive a lot more than they put in.

While what needs to be fixed is how democratic the EU is. It's very bureaucratic. But the people of the UK voted to leave instead of trying to fix it. The UK's biggest economic partners are all inside the EU. So products from the UK have to abide by EU laws and regulations if they want to keep selling products. If they have left, they will have even less to say about those laws and regulations that they'll have to abide by.

I can't believe that Trump supporters didn't bother to even try to find out a little about their candidate. He appealed to their hatred of Muslims, immigrants, and Obama and that was enough. A few hours on line and they would know all about Trump's association with the American mafia and the Russian mob, his known ties to other criminals, his fraudulent business practices, his draft dodging, tax evasion, pathological lying and much more that is not hard to find because it's a matter of public record.

That's a bad idea. Many communities who are under represented and might be ignorant due to historical discrimination will be affected by any limiting factor in their voting rights. The proper solution will not be to take a stupid test, but rather to have less money in politics making it possible for anyone to make their own political party with the support of average people and make it to congress or even the presidency. Unfortunately since we are pretty much stuck with 2 ideologies R or D when you are ignorant you don't really have a lot of choice.
@SiegmeyerPrime

And how do we get money out of politics? People constantly say it should happen, but rarely assert *how* it should happen. Money in politics seems to be an obvious consequence of the ungodly power that the U.S. federal government wields. Wherever such power accumulates, corrupting influences will spring up. Once people figure this out, maybe it will start dawning on them we actually should be doing what Republicans only say (but don't ever do), limit the size of government.

There is no health care crisis in countries that have practiced herbal and natural medicine for centuries. The only countries that have a health care crisis are those that use primarily pharmaceutical drugs. To really fix the health care problem in the US we need to educate doctors of the astounding health benefits of natural, holistic, and all alternative forms of medicine. Big business (pharma and food industries) will do everything to stop this because it brings them windfall profits. Just eliminating processed foods with all their toxic chemicals and food additives will do wonders for ones health. Educate yourself!

A few years ago I saw this brief interview of this retired senator who was seething with rage over the ACA. " I hate it when they call it Obama Care. Because it makes it sound like the democrats were responsible for it, and they weren't. WE ( the GOP) came up with it." I could't believe what he was saying. So I googled it and sure enought I read the history of the ACA. It was a feature of the Heritage Act bill that was formulated and proposed a few decades ago. Formulated and Proposed by the GOP!! Look it up! (politicians love it when the publoc suffer from short term memory and when they dont do their own research, but rely on soley on the lies and half truths that come out of politicians' mouths).

in my understanding this is the same thing that happened back in the day when hemp was made illegal to grow by classifying it under Marijuana a Spanish name for cannabis. then they had the hemp growers of American sign the legislation that said it would become illegal, basically signing their livelihoods away over semantics.

I do see that in American politics, there is a lot of misinformation regarding what is what. Both parties get stuck thinking they're in the right place, but if Americans knew the problems derive from wall street and the wealthy, and not the undocumented or "war on drugs" that has been debunked, we'd unite and kick ass.

As the owner of a small business that provides medical supplies, there is at least one section of the ACA that needs to be repealed. In the ACA, it says that the medical need for equipment like wheelchairs must be documented in the medical record. What this actually means is that I can't send a form and have a doctor check boxes and sign the bottom like we used to. If I generate a form, the information on that form is not part of the medical record regardless of who fills it out. It means that someone at the doctor's office must sit there with the patient and answer a series of questions by hand. Doctor's offices hate this and many times won't do it. Also, I can't accept "letters of medical necessity" as opposed to clinical notes. So, some times they return the answers to the questions in letter format rather than in their actual medical notes. This is unacceptable from Medicare's perspective... and they audit us A LOT. It causes massive delays in patients getting needed equipment, and too many times Medicare patients don't end up getting what they need and qualify for. They've put roughly 50% of the industry out of business since 2013. I'm not exaggerating, the number of active businesses is roughly equal to the number of Medicare registrations and that's how much the registrations have gone down. Though this was actually because of Bush's changes and Obama's implementation of those changes.

I know this ignorance of ACA/ObamaCare delineation to be true because I spoke to one Georgian resident personally. She works for a gas station and has a very sick husband. When the ACA came into effect, she was very proud of how low her premiums got. She was very happy about it but very harshly critical about ObamaCare. She thought of it as a government dept and not as a set of laws, rules, guidelines, etc., governing health issues and insurance companies. I think most if not all the people in that diner were surprised when I pointed out that ACA & Obama Care were one and the same. She sure was! I don't know if they believed me though but I hoped it got them thinking enough to check just to disprove me.

While the details of this story seem sketchy as hell. This is not surprising, People hear "The Patient Protection & Affordable Care act" & think I'm for protecting patients & for affordable care, regardless of whether or not the law does that. Just like when they say they're for the Patriot Act. Republicans call it Obamacare for sensible strategic purposes. Also WHAT?! the guy isn't racist for not liking Obama or Obamacare

This honestly just makes me sad. There is probably some portion of the American population that actually, truly opposes everything the ACA stands for, but the majority of the people don't actually understand what the ACA is or how it affects their lives. They've heard the horror stories and the words "socialism" and "communism", and that's enough to scare them. And many just automatically opposes anything with "Obama" in its name. If the population actually got to (and were interested to) hear the real, unbiased facts, they could at the very least decide on their own what to do with that information (even if they decided to disregard it, at least they would KNOW). Alas, as it is, politicians simply prey on the simplistic fears of people who are too busy with their everyday lives to really learn about every issue.
