Exactly.... They're the King's guards and horses. Not JQ Public's. People must be brain dead to not understand or know the horses can be unpredictable. Yes, they are well trained but the slightest thing can make a horse freak out. The guards do their best. I just wished they could put up a barrier of sorts but I wouldn't want the horse to feel more boxed in than he is.

If the Public expect the Guards to bow and scrape to them, then they are in for a shock.. The Guards have their rules which have to be obeyed, If you get pushed out of the way, it's your fault for being there. If you dont like it, then it's quite simple. DO NOT GO THERE.

The more I see these videos of Horse Guards the more I feel this is wrong. I feel it's showing disrespect to our military. Everyone of these Guards are working and on duty every day for our King and country.. it is belittling their whole existence. They should be respected for the jobs they do defending our country and not made to look as if they are in a Theme park, where they can be mocked and abused daily but unthinking tourists and general public who have no knowledge of what they do each day. The horses are highly trained beasts who have special jobs to do, they are not in a petting zoo. This is taking away the very importance of Horse Guards and the need for them. Public should be kept at a distance., familiarity breeds contempt and this is obvious every single day. Lovely to see them , but look, but do not touch..

There should be some sort of documentation available to the tour guides, at the hotels, money exchange sites, and at local kiosk. There could be several QR Codes where tourist could scan in the data to explain the purpose of the King's Guard, the meaning of each step in the changing of the Guard and really drive home that this is not a game for the tourists amusement. Also, since today's society seems to think they are entitled, there should be a list of offenses and what they can be charged with for committing those offenses. It also seems to me they should repaint the lines on the ground so the tourist have a clearer vision when the Guards and the Police. If there were 2 or 3 different colors, the Guard and Police could specify which color line the tourist should be behind.

London and it's tourist destinations must rake in millions and millions a year. All of the Royal Guards must be an integral part of that system. Everyone who visits want a pic of themselves with a guard. It must be why it is a continued tradition that tourists are allowed to get close to these places, guardsmen, and horses. No one does tradition, pomp and circumstance like the Brits. It's glorious, and steeped in history and pagentry. It must cost a fortune to maintain this facility, and all those horses. And it must take the patience of a saint to man those boxes and arches.

I have wondered why they don't use EZBOOTS on the horses, it's a rubber boot like bell boots that covers the whole hoof from cornet to bottom of the shoes, it can prevent the horse from slipping on the pavement. Through all my years I have seen many horses slip and fall, get cut up bad also they can hurt the tendons, and the worse is breaking a leg. I know the guards are great riders, but with horses you have to prepare for the worst to happen. Best to be safe than sorry. I hope it will not happen.
