In US news and current events today, a white man confronted a group of Black men using a private gym, even though the men were tenants who belonged in the building in Minneapolis.
The incident occurred at a private gym in a shared office space building in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The white man, identified as Tom Austin, is a venture capitalist and managing partner of the F2 Intelligence Group. He has reportedly lost his lease since footage of the confrontation went viral. The group of Black men said that they’ve rented office space in the building for more than a year and a half.

They can't, had a white lady yell at me telling me I can only buy one bottle of hand sanitzer. I didn't see a limit sign, and i picked up 4 bottles. She then stood there to make sure i put them back. That's when i just looked at her. She then walked away but came back to make sure. It wasn't necessary and the cashier would have let me know i could only buy one. That's how white people are with black people. They treat us like we are children.

@@emilianobattaglia3417 Mister Austin says, "a bunch of people who don't appear to be part of the-" The young gentlemen are in athletic wear, presumably for the purpose of using the gym equipment, which suggests they're in the gym for a legitimate reason (i.e., exercise/working out) and, therefore, _do_ "appear to be part of" as far as I can tell. He doesn't detail any suspicious behavior he witnessed, which should have had him calling for help immediately rather than confronting, given that he was outnumbered. So the question is, what else about them could possibly make him believe they "don't appear to be part of," if not their skin color? As a side note, the young gentlemen don't have to identify themselves to anyone who's not an LEO on duty or the owner(s) of the building/property; that Mister Austin identified himself first is irrelevant-he could have been lying, or he could have been telling the truth but been a criminal looking for a target(s). I don't get why you think his willingness to identify himself is worth mentioning.

@William Hutchinson I think that to prove a point, simply requiring the offender to pay one month's rent for each of the other men as proof that they live there would be an actual winnable case that would still impact the offender, support the victims, and prove the point. Trying to argue $3M from this encounter would be very tough. Trying to argue one month's rent each is certainly feasible.

When I was pregnant a middle aged white guy actually got out of his truck to cuss me out for not leaving a busy grocery store parking space quick enough, and said "Do I need to move you" I was just pulling up directions. About the time I got out with my pepper spray right a very fit blk man started walking towards us, he didn't even say anything. The coward didn't even hesitate and left. That man didn't know me but was ready to protect me. I think about that sometimes and I'm still grateful just wanted to share.

I believe in the second amendment, but having gun in situations like this can potentially deadly. Look what happen in the Philando Castile situation. Was his second amendment rights Protected? A white person calls the cops on a black man for holding a gun in Walmart ends up getting shot dead by police. Point being made here is black people constitutional rights are being constantly being violated. Conservatives who preach the rule of law are silent is one of many reasons why most black folks vote blue. At the same time old white moderates like Biden take advantage of the black vote and do nothing.

A tenant looks like someone he's seen before on the building. If they are new, how about introducing themselves. I bet that gym gets abused regularly. I know our student halls gym did. Combination gets shared by one guy in the building to his friends and suddenly all the equipment is full all the time by people who don't pay for it. They could have said, I'm in this office. Done. End of. Instead they make themselves sound suspicious. From this short clip we don't know what has gone on to lead to his conclusion.

But this wasn’t about racism. People keep assuming these incidents are racially motivated and the media is reckless with it. I noticed they conveniently left out the fact that his suspicion was actually correct that only one them had permission to be using the gym and the other 3 were just friends. The EXACT thing property management said they’d been receiving complaints about.

He agitated and just downright accusing them of something, and then threatening them. His question is not genuine anymore, he just downright accusing.
