He is just keeping the wood clean by walking on it with clean dry feet. All the other times you see him wearing foot protection.

@@stupitdog9686 True. I had a chainsaw buck back and cut through the top of my safety boot and rake my toes. I cut the boot of because I didn't know how deep the cuts were. Lots of blood but I got lucky with only skin damage over the tops. Another time I thought it would be safer to tuck my loose pant legs into my wool socks but the chain caught the sock and pulled the saw to my ankle and I couldn't pull it back from going forward. Thank God for chain breaks otherwise I would have cut my foot of at the ankle. Chainsaws are dangerous even with all the safety protocols in place. Wear the safety gear it will at least mitigate any physical damage to yourself.

Impressive work - and I wonder how this dry wood can possibly be watertight. I never built a boat from scratch, but I worked a lot on old wooden sailing boats. After making necessary repairs during the winter break at the beginning of the season we either filled them up with water or literally sunk them in shallow water for a couple of days so that the wood could soak up water, expand and close all of the the gaps before we bailed / pumped out the water to have a fully sealed boat. They were old boats and wood is subject to aging and deformation, but I am quite sure that the original boat builders intentionally left gaps between planks so that the wood had room to expand when it got wet. This boat is watertight although the wood is dry. What''s happening when the wood gets wet? With my very limited! hobbyist experience of repairing old boats I'd be worried that the wood would warp or even break when it has zero room to expand. Is this a concern at all?
