How is it unfair..Chelsea literally played a facup semi final on Sunday while your players were flexing and enjoying themselves🙄 and wolfsburg your opponent also played today..so I ask again what exactly is unfair?

@@jokemary49 dam someone’s angry, I don’t just mean it’s unfair just for Arsenal, it unfair in general for the women’s game, they play 14 less fixtures in the WSL than the men do in the prem, but the fixtures always seem to be placed so close together, especially since injuries like ACL tears are becoming increasingly common and being overworked is a major factor in this. Hence why so many players took breaks during the international break. And with the amount of injuries Arsenal now how, it’s hard to rotate players, in comparison to other teams like Man Utd who seem to have a pretty decent bench

Chelsea were aware of Leupolz’s absence from the beginning so could prepare for it. Arsenal had six players out through injury for this match, of those five were starters (miedema, mead, foord, little, and now williamson(Hurtig as well but she doesn’t tend to start)) Cayley couldn’t start either because of recently returning from injury. The entire attacking trio of arsenal are technically reserves. Yes, injuries are a part of football but arsenal have seen a disproportionate amount of them this season as half of their starting eleven are out. In addition to this, for a couple months they had to play without both starting centre backs. Players like williamson have also had to play almost every minute for club and country that is a problem in all of the womens game. Yes Bright is a big miss but it’s not been confirmed how long she is out for. P. Harder has returned for the most important bit of the season as well so the only truly long term injury Chelsea face is Kirby who they do have backups of international standard for.

The problem with Arsenal is not signing replacements of Mead $ Miedema in the summer window,when they were aware that both will be out for the rest of the season.Chelsea has the same number of injuries as Arsenal,& no one felt sorry for them during their hectic April schedule,literally had 3 games in a week

@@alicekelly8909 pernille harder has not returned because she is yet to play a game and she has been out since November, I don't know how else to define long term injury, if hers is not long term according to you, kirby has been injured since forever. The only long term injury arsenal has is mead and viv, arsenal also have bought players in January unlike Chelsea, kim little and Williamson just got injured just like bright and buchanan, we all know hurtig is not a starter normally, foord is back in training..our team is also struggling with fatigue cos we don't rotate players, Chelseas predicament is as bad as arsenal's own

Chelsea have had random short term injuries too - cankovic, perisset, cuthbert, eriksson were all out for multiple consecutive weeks throughout the season. For last week’s game, Chelsea were missing bright, buchanan, Harder, Kirby, Berger. 5 starters including both starting CBs, the keeper and the two starting play makers. No one is suggesting arsenal haven’t had injuries or even an injury crisis. Just that chelsea have had the same thing and every time anyone discusses arsenal they talk about the injuries as an excuse for results. Meanwhile chelsea have an average performance but win and there is no mention of the injuries until bright recently.

Some times it's got to do with the pitch, for sure, but the sad fact is that women are much more prone to knee injuries. It's even more prevalent in hardcourt sports like basketball and handball. Ligaments are put under a lot of strain during awkward dynamic body movement on hard surfaces. Male bodies, being much stronger, withstand this pressure much better than female bodies.

​@@bard6184 yes but also it has to be said leah could potentially be the 72nd player since Jan 2022 to get an acl And that's also just in the the top known Europe leagues and the nwsl excluding any lower divisions or other sports entirely. However nothing has been done they has been not enough visibility for people who can use there platforms to make any change. Not enough research has been put in specifically focusing on women. Pitches and boots play a factor to the damage but also what prehab are the players doing to try to prevent injuries like this, what is there to support the knee and if research means players have to start wearing support things then good because atleast it will help. Then there is player management, the amount of minutes certain players account for is shocking, as i saw today Leah has played 2400 minutes since July 6th and 1437 have been for arsenal, starting almost always for club and Country is going to have atoll on a key player like her.

@@xxx-or7mz Absolutely agree. There should be a lot more research and general consideration into the issue. There has to be potential to reduce the risk, and steps must be taken towards this goal.

That would never happen in the Premier League.
