BABYMETAL is a Japanese Kawaii Metal group consisting of (for the most part) SU-METAL on lead vocals, YUIMETAL and MOAMETAL on backing vocals/dancing, or "SCREAM AND DANCE" as they like to call it. I say 'for the most part' as Yui & Moa have a few songs that they do as duets without Su and Su has a few songs she does as solos whilst Yui & Moa take a well deserved break. They were formed in 2010 as part of the idol goup Sakura Gakuin, before touring on their own in 2011 and have gone from strength to strength. They started singing to backing tracks with actors in skeleton suits pretending to play instruments (known as BABYBONES) but soon incorporated the Kami Band into their concerts, bringing them in full time at the end of 2013. The Kami Band consists of some of Japan's premier musicians on rotation based on availability. The most popular configuration consisting of Takayoshi Ohmura and Mikio Fujioka on guitar with Leda Cygnus as stand-in, BOH on bass and Aoyama Hideki on drums. These are the people you will see most often in videos. Since the untimely passing of Mikio at the end of 2017 they have enlisted the talents of Isao Fujita on guitar. Sonisphere 2014 was the first major show outside of Japan that Babymetal performed at. They were originally suppose to play one of the side stages at the festival but at the last minute got moved to the Main stage which left the girls very nervous because they were afraid of upset metalhead throwing things at them. Ijime, Dame, Zettai ( which is an Anti-Bullying song which roughly translates to mean "No More Bulling Forever" ) was the last song of their set and by the end of this song not only had they won over a crowd of metalheads they left them wanting more as the crowd could be heard shouting at the end, One more song, one more song!

I see that you chose to continue your journey with Babymetal. Good. Very Good! And nobody expects to like them so much! I watched them the first time 2 years ago just to shut someone up, basically. Now, I am a Babymetal herald! This was right before they made the switch to the Kami Band (which means god band) playing with them full time. The people behind them in this video were known as Babybones. They were actors dressed up who mimed playing their instruments. Then the Kami Band showed up, and the Babybones got their walking papers! The legend is that the Fox God (Kitsune, which you will hear a lot means Fox) chose a mortal girl to breathe life and love and positivity back into the world through Metal. She was reborn as the goddess Su-metal (they actually act this out on stage in some shows), and Yui-Metal and Moa-metal are her angels. The kami Band are gods of their instruments and are manifested on stage when needed. That's enough to go on for now, I do not wish to overwhelm you too much. Welcome to the Foxhole!

'Gimme Chocolate!! is their most popular music video (almost 100,000,000 views at present). It's also the only song they've performed on US television (The Colbert Show). This version was filmed during their 'Legend 1997' concert which celebrated Su-metal's sixteenth birthday. She will turn twenty-one in late December.

Babymetal is an offshoot of a japanese Idol group called Sakura Gakuin. They started back in 2010 and have the members Suzuka Nakamoto (lead singer, born 1997) as Su-Metal, Moa Kikutchi (backup vocals and dance, born 1999) as Moa-Metal, and Yui Mizuno (backup vocals and dance, born 1999, now retired) as Yui-Metal. I've watched your reactions to 4-5 Babymetal songs tonight, in the last hour or so. I love it!! You're fun to watch and positively captivating. I only recently became a Babymetal fan (in August), and it's pretty much all I listen to lately...like, obsessively. They're my new favourite band, and I really really hope they come to my part of the world sometime soon. Think you said it all. BM is about having fun and they work realy hard to give their audiance a perfect show and expirience. Nobody can deny that they have the most diverse and friendly fan base. You will find cos player up to old heavy metal heads and people of all ages but this special expirience you have to make for yourself...go to an concert and come early and bring a big bag because many people will bring their own self made fan merch and give it away to the fans who call them self The One. This was the first song I heard from them. I was very confused. Thought they are trolling, wasn't sure if it was the greatest or worst thing I've ever seen... But now it's one of my favorite bands. And the lyrics... Have you checked them out for some of the songs? Many of them has actually deep and strong meaning. This one appeared not to be a troll at all, when I checked english lyrics. They are actually singing about a serious (1st worlds) problem. It might not be such a big deal for a world, but for their age it's still something.
