To cover the open holes when nothing is in them, could just use a piece of pipe that has an inner diameter slightly larger than the outer diameter of the pipes, cut them as wide as the hole, and slide them next to the holes. Whenever he takes something out, just slide it over. When he wants to pop something in, slide it off. You know what I mean? Also, to keep the hose in the middle cooler, just get some pool noodles, slice them like a hot dog bun, and slide it over. Could do that for any hoses around the place, to insulate them.

Hey Hoocho Great show. This tip may help your friend for his farm. He could use pool noodles to lay over the water hoses to keep cool. Really cheap and all you have to do is slice it down the centre and place over it.

Thanks for a really great vlog; so very interesting. My wife normally ignores the tv when I'm watching hydro/acquaponic shows but this morning she was engrossed and said the whole thing was quite interesting. When we get back to Brisbane I'll be back into such things. The first thing I noticed was the slope on the channels and wondered how the speed of the solution through the channels affected plant health.

This is an incredible video, even more so doing it in that weather! Troy has quite the operation going, wouldn't call it halfway through to industrial. Would have been nice to get an idea also of the business side of things, regarding profit and where to invest it scaling up - I don't imagine one would go industrial overnight.

With some small coding and some relatively inexpensive parts, you could actually use a small waterwheel type device connected to sensors to detect if it is rotating at the end of each pipe to automatically warn you when no water is coming out of the pipe.

Loved this video!! I have to say the split in the middle is genius!!! That’s my dream to be able to have a setup like that!!! Wow!! What an incredible blessing!! Seeing all the difficulties with the external factors I couldn’t help but wonder if a lot could be resolved by an indoor grow area instead of outside?? I was thinking it would dramatically reduce things from clogging the tubing like leaves falling etc., plus the temp control if done inside could control not only the ambient temps but also the water temps., also with the advancement in water filtration I would think that a much smaller inline filter system would work much easier and likely much less expensive then the ten tones of sand? Although I’m sure it was a fantastic and extremely innovative idea 25 Yrs ago when the farm first began there is definitely something to be considered when upgrading or changing. I could definitely envision the entire system indoors. Would there be any disadvantages to indoor growing on a scale this size? I sure can’t think of any except for maybe flooding but appropriate drain holes would have to be installed into the building. And a sub pump of sorts. Just a thought as to how to mitigate some of the obvious current problems. Certainly a bricks and mortar building capital expense would be a significant outlay of $$ I think it would pay for itself in no time. I’d love to see an update on this farm in the near future and I pray he and his wife are healthy and doing well after two extremely serious health issues. To be able to persevere despite all obstacles in their way. May God bless them both and keep them healthy & happy🥰❤️🇨🇦🙏🏻🌈🌱.
