They were dangerous, mysterious...and had real gumption. Femme Fatales brought grit and glamour to film noir, but did you know that they were also an embodiment of male anxiety in the Post-War era? Meet Nialla 'Ginngi' LeBouef, a New York based screenwriter, who finds inspiration in these iconic characters.

Vintage style, not values 👏🏽 Beautiful person! I liked that this stepped towards a vulnerable direction, there is strength in vulnerability that I personally believe can reflect that femme fatale aura.

I can relate to the idea of clothing as armor, and the calming mental preparation.

You are beautiful and I love your fashion sense. I am 68 years old and I remember my Mom dressing so professionally. My Mom was a single Mom and times were tough for her, but she kept herself and me in style by making my clothes and buying quality not quantity. The Great Depression influenced many, and like you said Post WW 2 gave women a new strength and independence, and I like to think, a new freedom that they can and did "make it on their own". I buy secondhand, I like Hindi, Asian, and adventurous clothing. I have beautiful sweaters my Grannie made me 40+ years ago. My daughters reworked secondhand clothes into original fashions that noone else wore. They still now both have their individual fashion styles and I am so proud of them. I am proud of you too ♡

Very interesting idea about creating a ritual of getting ready that is calming; I also like the idea of homage to the ancestors that had to mask their true selves. She looks really sharp! And check out American Duchess for shoes, they have some 40’s styles (and more) that would go perfectly with the vintage style (but not vintage values!).

The shoes & boots on this website are gorgeous, no doubt about it. There was an adorable pair of sandals with bows across the front that I loved. But be warned!! You probably should have the income of s true duchess to pay for them. The least expensive pair I saw was $99 on sale and they weren’t available. Some were as high as $270/pr. Yes they are beautiful but whew...price tags were a bit alarming!!

I can tell she’s very imaginative and I just think that that’s so special about her, despite the anxious brain that she probably has that goes with that imaginative side

Very inspiring. I also have an issue with anxiety but I’ve never seen a way to have fun with dress as a ritual to help you through your anxiety.

You are really beautiful yourself! I’m going to assume that gorgeous long piece in the beginning of your video is a robe and it is fabulous! My oldest sister is into Victorian styles both personal and in her home. She does the best she can on a limited budget including items found in consignment shops. The ladies of the’40’s were indeed beautiful and it’s a shame we’ve gotten away from the values that kept our sisters moving forward to accomplish great things for the women of their world as well as ours.

Sweet! I have been seriously considering dressing vintage really for the sun protection factor and the cool factor and the feminine Factor. If it weren't for money I would go buy some cotton ladies gloves from Amazon and some rich dark calico I make myself some dresses and I would be very very happy

2020 femme fatale, that plays a 50ths femme fatale? Sorry we have a different definition of a femme fatale. For me it’s a brilliant intelligent woman, that uses and abuses her lovers. For me she doesn’t have the vibes of a cold, deadly trap.

Not the point. A femme fatale is also confident, calculated, and stylish. Dressing like that can help you emulate those qualities, and she also explains in detail how the rituals of dressing help her manage anxiety. Maybe rewatch the video if you didn't get it.

Ummmm, as a person of color, this is not an era that I would want to emulate in clothing, nor in fashion of any kind. not only were all these femme fatale‘s white women, but the roles that they were given were so sexist and stereotypical.
