The amount of water on Earth is infinite. You cannot consume it. It is a completely closed cooling system. No water escapes from our atmosphere. Even the water you drink and urinate is not fully wasted. In the Netherlands alone, more than 230 million hectoliters of fresh water flows into the North Sea every day! Moreover, salt seawater is fairly simple and therefore not even too expensive to desalinate. The shortage of water on Earth is probably the biggest myth, say the biggest lie that exists. Okay, it is not everywhere for the taking, but creating a vision of the future, that it would become scarce, is purely deception.

Louis Caeiro Ramos mate as the earth gets hotter more and more of that water will end up being trapped in the atmosphere because of evaporation and also more unexpected rain seasons. Drought might not be the biggest issue but food scarcity is something I feel will need more attention in the next 30-50 years we might have 10 bil people by then

I feel like this is the type of thing that really helps people understand what we are facing. It’s very hard to imagine the catastrophes we are possibly facing as a planet because it’s just too much info to take in, but telling people “there will not be your favourite sport on a dead planet” is actually a very helpful way of getting through. Also could be useful to remind people that “acting now” doesn’t just mean turning off your own lights and switching to an electric car (both good things ofc), but fighting for policy change by writing to local MPs or getting involved in climate activism that pushes for larger scale change. Ultimately, the government and how it manages large companies that harm the planet has a bigger role to play in changing the future than most of us do on our own
