How long did it take him to get Ajax to that level? It wasn’t in two seasons. He needs to get rid of the Maguires, Dalots, Lindelofs, Antony’s, and Rashfords. These players are average at best and are not elite. Till he does that these players will make him fail, plain and simple. You gotta build from the back and that’s what he needs to this with this squad

Yeah, that is true. I remember saying that at the time. That is why those same players loved Ole. He let them do whatever they wanted. There were stories coming out of Carrington at that time, that the United players who had led the revolt against Jose (Martial, Pogba, etc) were refusing to pass to the guys who remained loyal to the Portuguese. I never believed that story as they weren't good enough to behave in such a way during games.

I've been saying it for like 7 years now. In this era, what kind of player picks United over another other major club also pursuing their services? There's only one answer: players who prioritize the weekly paycheck over finding the best place to thrive professionally. Because nobody could pick MUFC for the latter reason given their constant top-to-bottom disfunction. The problem is, when literally every player is picking you for the money rather than personal on-field ambition, you end up with a bunch of guys who act like mercenaries as soon as things get difficult. They check out. And they're not motivated to get better. Which is why every player who joins the club ends up getting worse and worse the longer they stay. Nobody improves over the long haul.

Well put. It's like their scouting department uses tabloids and social media to select potential players. Madrid must be laughing their cocks off at getting £100m for Varane and Casemiro. I remember Fernandes being linked to a lot of clubs whilst he was at Sporting, he's a good player so you have to ask why none of the other big boys went in for him...then you watch his childish, petulant behaviour and it becomes obvious why. I seriously think they chose Onana after watching that one single CL final game against City last season. 😂

This is why I always have problems with coaches who try to change their systems to fit in with the squad they have. Of course, I'm all for adapting and adjusting, but I feel like it should be temporary, and there should be a clear plan towards building the squad towards what has worked for you in the past. More often than not, they end up not having a clear identity.
@hitthurdeaux7 ай бұрын
Well, it’s certainly ok to change your system to suit the players that you have, as long as your new direction/system is clear and effective. Ten Hag’s isn’t. We have no idea what new system or ideas he’s pursuing with this group.

Ten Hag is doing what you want, if you want to see what a manager at a top club that is adjusted to his players look at Real Madrid
@zak__217 ай бұрын
@@hitthurdeaux that's it's better to stick to what you know. If you don't have a clear goal everything becomes messy
@zak__217 ай бұрын
@pedropierre9594 I disagree with this, there isn't a clear indication of the direction man u are heading. Madrid are still playing like Madrid, not really possession based, but take their chances on the counter. Yes, they might be using players in unnatural positions but, it's essentially the same playstyle. At man u, there's no clear style or direction

Ralf Rangnick was right. This club needs open heart surgery. He told the club who they should sign that would elevate their levels (Diaz, Alvarez, Vlahovic). They didnt bother sign any of those players who are doing well at their new clubs. We seems to forget that the board NEVER gets the manager's #1 target. Kim Jim Mae was a prime example.

I feel like we do this every year or so with United. At some point you gotta stick with someone and go a few years. It was Moyes, LVG, Mourinho, Ole, now ETH. Maybe it’s not just the coach. They aren’t all bad managers.

Mourinho showed anyone with a football brain how proper management can prevail over weak support from the club hierarchy and United fans totally swallowed and backed the personal media witch hunt that saw him out the door after 2nd in league and the Europa. Forever a clown club with delicate easily lead fans after that. Ole could never compare or measure up to Mou and they’re so desperate for ETH to work, they bought hook line and sinker into his delusions 🤡🤡🤡

Majority of these players played horribly under more than 2-3 different managers. How could they still be at the club? Combined this with TH's questionable recruitments Anthony, Casemiro, Mount, Onana, Evans, Hjolund... I dont know who to blame or what direction the club wants to take. The first thing they need is an actual Director of Football.

It’s always been obvious that the united players aren’t at the level as the players of the other teams, but a lot of people didn’t see that and were half water satisfied with some of those players. Today it showed big time, if this doesn’t make you question the recruitment then no manager can improve this team. People out here comparing Spurs, but their players have individually got what it takes to play high level.

Manchester United reach a new low literally every game and sometimes I actually feel sorry for them at times because this was a formidable force as the way Manchester City have been dominating the Premier League in recent seasons and winning trophies consistently under Pep Guardiola, that’s what Manchester United used to be under Sir Alex Ferguson they went from that to spending so much money without getting any sort of consistency or challenging for trophies and have had a big managerial merry go round in the last decade and also it’s now a club for mercenary players that are satisfied with a paycheck and know they’ll get paid no matter how they’ll perform and more importantly the environment surrounding the club is very toxic as they’re a mess on and off the field and this makes it difficult for the manager and the players on the team. Manchester United lost 3-0 to Manchester City at home on Sunday in the Premier League and against Newcastle United in the Carabao Cup they lost 3-0 back to back 3-0 losses at Old Trafford and they’re not a fortress in their own home anymore as teams go there and silence their fans a lot of the big clubs have done it recently same with even the smaller clubs as well and this season they have been getting worse and worse. I always feel like the manager should be backed over mercenaries but with them out of the cup struggling in their champions league group not sure if they’ll get out of the group stage and are on a bad run of form in the premier league if Manchester United are at that rate where there’s nothing they can get out of this season in order to avoid that they could possibly sack Erik ten Hag. We can talk about injuries defense conceding goals the poor form of Andre Onana Marcus Rashford Casemiro Mason Mount and others struggling for form, I don’t see any signs of an identity in this team all I see is a bunch of stars only there to collect a paycheck and on the pitch they’re all over the place and the manager himself hasn’t been able to settle on their best team and what we’ve seen from Ange Postecoglu at Tottenham Unai Emery at Aston Villa Roberto De Zerbi at Brighton and Eddie Howe at Newcastle at their respective clubs these managers have an identity and there’s a structure and idea on how they’ll implement their tactics and the players play within the system, look at Bayer Leverkusen under Xabi Alonso their team is playing really good football at the moment and they’re top of the Bundesliga and have scored 50 goals this season in all competitions and haven’t lost a game at all once again they have an identity, you don’t see that with Manchester United and they’ve had identity problems for years they’re not a team they’ll heavily reliant on moments of individual brilliance and this is an issue that the managers and players cannot fix they’re just gonna continue to go downhill that’s the reality of this Manchester United team with how poorly they’re playing.
