His driving was criminally dangerous with complete disregard for the public and the pursing police. It wasn't just a traffic offense in some jurisdictions, but evading police. He should have got 5 years in jail and ban on driving for the 5 years following release.

I've been in the back of a BMW estate... not sure if it was a 530/520 or what but it was quick. The guy we were chasing was a pretty decent driver (doing a complete handbrake turn around a 90 degree turn from a residential side road into a residential side road. Hit extremely high speeds, first started at 60-70mph on wider roads and very quickly got between 90 and 105MPH down residential roads with cars parked on both sides and possibly mere inches away from the wing mirrors on either side. We hit so many of those long large speed bumps that I kept getting thrown up into the air slightly and then slung back down again into the seat, even with a seatbelt on. By the end of the chase, my back actually hurt. After about a 10 minute pursuit, just as NPAS arrived overhead, the guy's sense of direction let him down, and he drove into a cul-de-sac (dead end) and then gave himself up at taser point. He quickly shuffled across to the passenger's seat and proclaimed he wasn't driving, despite the fact we were right behind him as he drove into the dead end and watched him come to a stop, no one got out of the car and there was nobody else with him in it. Transpires at custody, he was a Disqual driver, not insured, wanted x 14 (one being wanted for prison recall), drink drive. Ironically he had been on the briefing that night as there had been intel for the guy driving about despite being Disqual. Stupid tit drew attention to himself by not stopping at a give way line about 50 metres ahead of us and just pulling straight out. He got sent straight back to prison to finish his sentence. Every dog has it's day, as the saying goes.

@@boxr_4214 It is possible to get brake fluid that boils at much higher temperatures. You can also get pads that won't out-gas as soon, but they're awful for road use because they have to be stinking hot to provide any braking power. I doubt this clown has gone to that kind of effort though, as most people don't know how to top up the screen wash, never mind how to bleed a brake system. I had an ex-police Volvo a few years ago. It was an unmarked traffic unit at one point. Because it was a T5, it would normally have Brembo 4-pots at the front, but when these cars were presented for the police trials, they failed the brake test (0-100mph-0-100mph-0-100mph-0). Volvo didn't want to lose the contract so they fitted the police chassis with their own custom calipers and disks. I forget waht size the disks were off the top of my head, but when parked next to a Porsche 911 Carrera fitted with 4-pot calipers, the Porsche set-up looked tiny. It makes me wonder - The traffic police all now drive BMW saloons - Surely they can't have "standard" brakes? Do they have something "special"?

I agree, it’s always easier to be chased than to give chase. You’re constantly predicting the decisions of other people. Such as the suspects change in direction, breaking, other road users. Whilst constantly having to risk access the road ahead. But the kid in the golf wasn’t pissing about 🤣

That's the difference between a lot of the public and trained drivers. Having been in a police vehicle flying about at speed many times before, and still do so on a regular basis, the level of driving compared to normal joe public is worlds apart. Think about it this way, yes, police vehicles do crash, but crashes are rare. I used to work on a team of 50 officers, I now work on a team of about 25 officers. In my 7 years in the job i've known a total of 5 crashes. Those 5 collisions include low speed collisions (10-20 mph) and 3 where police vehicles travelling on a main road at 50-60Mph have T-boned a member of public's vehicle who pulled out of a junction directly into the officers path, one of the "collisions" was a police driver clipping a parked car's wing mirror whilst driving at some speed attempting to catch up to another pursuing vehicle, that was chasing a moped rider who had committed 11 knife point robberies in a few mile radius in the space of just 3 hours, people criticise the police but the pursuing officers definitely wanted to catch him. A lot of the public can't drive around at 30-40Mph without crashing, yet criticize those trained who spend 3 weeks learning proper car control and various techniques to aid progress. I had a moped rider fail to stop for me once, I was held at temporary ATS, with two buses coming the other way blocking the entire road, the rider took to the pavement and continued along the pavement before I could even change to the pursuit channel. Unluckily for him, and unknown to me at that time, there was an unmarked traffic car the other side of the lights, who observed the rider come past them on the pavement, and not having any of it went after him, where low and behold he also failed to stop for them. He spent 90% of the pursuit on the pavement but it only lasted about 60 seconds, he rounded a bend too sharply and lost it, coming off his bike before getting up and running off, running straight into a waiting firearms officer at the bottom of the road.

If you praise the cop (and rightly so) then you must also praise the criminal. Of course, what he did was highly dangerous, but he more than held his own against the cop who had clearly had extensive driver training. Whatever you think of him for anything else, he could drive.

Drugs don't ruin life's, arrogance caused by a lack of moderation and self control does, considering you have people who can enjoy a small drink at night, then you get alcoholics, the war on drugs has failed since day one, it's causing more life's than it saves, hence why Scotland is looking to change their drug laws and the English parliament won't allow it, despite Scotland, which has a population of 6m, has more drug deaths than the US, who has 300m People are legally allowed to consume liver destroying drugs like alcohol and lung destroying tobacco, so why is another adult telling another adult, what they can do with their own life's. This is coming from an ex heroin addict, it's about time people accept blame, instead of playing the victim and blaming drugs for their fuck ups. People might say "aw well, at least that scums gone, people who deal with drugs deserve it" but these people from consume caffeine, a drug that kills a good amount of people as well. People do dangerous things every day, skiing, sky diving, they know the risks, so why not give adults who know the risk, freedom to take drugs, if it's that much of a worry, do what the Dutch do and give out information leaflets to prevent harm, that gives the right dose and effects of the drug, pros and cons, no biased information.

Well it was around 3am with little to no pedestrians or traffic, and the police are trained to do that, and they were only going that speed on straights to keep up with the driver. They were slowing at junctions and lights and checking for hazards. If it were daytime then it may have been called off.

There's a rule about double jeopardy. Essentially meaning someone can't be tried twice for the same crime. So if the coppers when he got caught, dealt with him for speeding, or careless/dangerous driving, then he won't and can't be dealt with by the police for speeding when captured on the cameras, because he's already been dealt with for that matter when he was arrested and of course sent to court, if he was remanded in custody, then he'd have no choice and he'd be forced to go to court. If he wasn't remanded and was granted bail, then he'd have a choice about attending, but would he have failed to attend then the court would just issue a warrant for his arrest.
