Great video. I appreciate seeing the different angles. I also found the way you described the index working as a pin between thumb and arrow shaft as very interesting/helpful.

Thank you so MUCH for this video ! It's like i'm relearning how to use a manchu ring. The technique i used with the ring was okayish up to maybe 50 lbs, but started to get really painful over this weight. The ring felt like my limiting factor to go toward heavier bows, and now just pulled 70lbs with the technique you showed here without any pain. My form was a mess tho, but not because to the ring !

@@cathayarmory7328 So after training with this method for a few weeks, I still have a hard time shooting lots of arrows with the 70lbs bow. There is a really slight pinch near the base of the thumb, not sure if it's from the ring or the string, i usually don't even notice it for the first few arrows, but after shooting for a while it gets really painful. Do you need to form calluses near the base of the thumb for it to be confortable, or do i do something wrong ? I really can't extend the thumb more than i do. Also the repeated pressure on the thumb tend of make it feel sore for a few days after shooting, will the thumb eventually get used to the pressure ?

Thank you for the tutorial! Much appreciated. I almost give up on the Manchu ring already. Now I'll start practicing again thanks to your video.

Okay, THAT was cool and helpful. I was wondering why my thumb started to hurt badly after a few draws... after watching this video, I realized and had a mild forehead slap because it's so obvious now XD I had my thumb in a bad alignment so the whole weight of the draw was held by one joint... yep, was a nice learning curve for sure. 👍

Great explanation! 👏👏👏 I have a problem with my Manchu ring, since it’s fitting the way you show, but then it flies off after release sometimes… If I add a bit leather to avoid the ring slipping off, it’s too much and the thumb swells… 😜 I go mad… 😂
@cathayarmory7328
@cathayarmory7328 2 жыл бұрын
yeah if the ring does not slide when you shaking it like I do, it should be fine. You may check if the flying off is caused by an angle between the bottom of the ring and the string that is too deep---that may push the ring off upon release. Another possibility is your thumb is sweaty----if any moisture get in the internal surface of the ring it may become easily sliding too.

@@cathayarmory7328 First point might be valid for me… it’s likely, that the angle of the thumb was incorrect ☺️ Thank you so much, dear Cathay! ☺️🙏🙏

This is the super helpful video. Thank you very much! I have one question - I didn't see any nocking points on your string. How it's possible? Can you make an explanation video please? Many thanks!)
@cathayarmory7328
@cathayarmory7328 2 жыл бұрын
Glad it helps. Historically the nocking point is made by making the serving thicker, then leave a small part of it with thinner serving. As for me, I just do not like to use a nocking point.

hi, thanks for the good info. i have a question. how do you use this ring for heavy bows such as draw weight of 70# to 110#? i have not found a good way to use Manchu ring with heavy bows. have any thoughts?
@cathayarmory7328
@cathayarmory7328 2 жыл бұрын
well the one I use now is 60#@ my draw length. When I go for 70# I would find it out. I think there should be no problem.

Do you consider vermil manchu ring a good ring? I´ve heard that one isnt very good.
@cathayarmory7328

not very authentic in its geometry but may work with some people at lighter draw weights. The material may become slippery more easily than moose antler if the thumb sweats too.

Thanks for the helpful video. Do you wear the ring on top of your knuckle or past it like a normal ring? I've seen competing claims on how the ring should be worn and I'm not sure which method is correct.

push it to the bottom, then extend the thumb and draw the string. The string will push the ring to the best place.
