I would not swap him for any goalkeeper. Other than Neuer, no other goalkeeper can fit the system like him. Too many fans who think they know better needs to understand that without Ederson, the system does not function well. Everything starts from him. For Pep’s system, the goalkeeper is the first attacker. I acknowledge that a goalkeeper’s main job is to keep the ball out of the net. But in Pep’s eyes, he wants his goalkeepers to start attacks, be exceptional with distribution. You won’t appreciate Ederson until he is no longer there. There will be many goalkeepers of his style in the years to come. Many of them will say Ederson is their idol

As a Man city fan, when I first saw Ederson play, his style of playing made me a bit uneasy because he would make dribbles, come off his line and try long passes and all that, but eventually, I began to wonder why all keepers didn't try to be like him because he was so good with his feet on the ball as well as his hands. Not many others like him and he is a real gem

I don't get the disrespect Ederson gets. Wins golden glove and has people saying he's not good enough. Saved us many times last year and is a big reason we won the title.

Ederson may not be the best shot stopper but he is the Perfect keeper for the Pep Guardiola style of play. Ederson's ball distribution makes him very vital for how Man City play and build from the back. His long range passes are top notch. His short range passes make him seem like a midfielder. He really is important to Pep's Man City team and the brand of football they play.
