Mandala of the Five Buddhas
Mandala is ‘Circle’ in Sanskrit and here refers to a sacred geometric figure inscribed in a circle. This is usually a square, but could be a hexagon, as in the Mandala of Vajrayogini, or a series of triangles as in the Hindu “Sri Yantra”.
The Five Buddhas are said to be aspects of Shakyamuni Buddha arrayed in a mandala as a square of circles oriented to the cardinal directions, along with a central Buddha called Vairocana, the ‘Radiant’ the white light Buddha. At the bottom of the diagram is the blue Buddha, Akshobhya, the ‘Unshakeable’, in the East.
To the left is the yellow Buddha, Ratnasambhava, ‘Jewel Born’ in the South. Above is the red Buddha Amitabha, ‘Boundless Light’ in the West. To the right is the green Buddha Amoghasiddhi, ‘Unobstructed Success’ in the North.
The mudra that is exhibited by blue Unshakable Akshobhya is called the ‘Earth Touching’ mudra. That associated with yellow Jewel Born Ratnasambhava is the ‘Giving’ mudra. Boundless Light Amitabha has the ‘Meditation’ mudra; Unobstructed Success Amoghasiddhi has the ‘Fearlessness’ Mudra. The central Buddha
Vairocana makes the ‘Teaching’ mudra (Dharma Wheel).
These 5 Buddhas have many other attributes that comprise a web of meanings. For example:
There are mantras for each Buddha:
Om Vairocana Hum
Om Vajra Akshobhya Hum
Om Ratnasambhava Tram
Om Amideva Hrih
Om Amoghasiddhi Ah Hum
The associate female Buddhas correspond to the 5 material elements. Thus:
Vairocana/ Vajradhatishvari- space
Akshobhya/ Locana- water
Ratnasambhava/ Mamaki- earth
Amitabha/ Pandara- fire
Amoghasiddhi/ Tara- air
Finally, there are five associated Bodhisattvas:
Vairocana-Samantabhadra
Akshobhya-Vajrapani
Ratnasambhava-Ratnapani
Amitabha-Avalokiteshvara ( Chenrezi )
Amoghsiddhi-Vishvapani

OM VAIROCHANA OM Flood us with the All-Pervading Wisdom of the Dharmakaya. Mantra to Vairochana (“He Who Is Like the Sun” or “the Radiating One”). Vairochana is one of the Five Dhyani Buddhas. His Wisdom of the Dharmadhatu (the Realm of Truth in which all things exist as they really are) or All-Pervading Wisdom of the Dharmakaya (the Body of the Law, the absolute Buddha nature) overcomes the poison of ignorance, or delusion. OM AKSHOBHYA HUM Flood us with Mirrorlike Wisdom. Mantra to the Dhyani Buddha Akshobhya (“Immovable” or “Unshakable”). His Mirrorlike Wisdom transmutes the poison of hatred and anger. OM RATNASAMBHAVA TRAM Flood us with the Wisdom of Equality. Mantra to the Dhyani Buddha Ratnasambhava (“the Jewel-born One” or “Origin of Jewels”). His Wisdom of Equality antidotes the poison of pride. OM AMITABHA HRIH Flood us with Discriminating Wisdom. Mantra to the Dhyani Buddha Amitabha (“Infinite Light”). His Discriminating Wisdom overcomes the poison of the passions- all cravings, covetousness, greed and lust. OM AMOGHASIDDHI AH Flood us with All-Accomplishing Wisdom, the Wisdom of Perfected Action. Mantra to the Dhyani Buddha Amoghasiddhi (“Almighty Conqueror” or “He Who Unerringly Achieves His Goal”). His All-Accomplishing Wisdom, or the Wisdom of Perfected Action, antidotes the poison of envy and jealousy and confers perseverance, infallible judgment and unerring action. OM VAJRASATTVA HUM Flood us with the Wisdom of the Diamond Will. Mantra to Vajrasattva, the Buddha whose name means “Diamond Being,” “the Indestructible-minded One,” or “One Whose Essence Is as Lightning.” He unifies within himself the five Buddha families, each of which is headed by one of the Five Dhyani Buddhas.

I understand air is associated with touch and earth with smell since air is the first element that can be felt and only felt on the body, and earth the only one that can be smelt. But why are space that is invisible and formless associated with sight, water with sounds and fire which cannot be tasted with taste? Quite confusing.

@@suratiivey9142 actually its not the same. Equality is termed "Majestic Utter Sameness", in other words we're all equal in Buddha Nature, regardless of our external social, financial, and educational standing or what our species is; Equanimity is being completely calm, detached, and imperturbable especially under what most people consider to be highly stressful or even hellish circumstances.

They are real, but our mind perceives them differently depending on the culture in which we were born and depending on the purity of our mind. Personally, I have no experience with Tantric Buddhism, but I have with Dasha Mahavidya (Hindu Tantra). Some Buddhas correspond to Mahavidya or other gods from the Hindu pantheon. Only the name and iconography differ, but the energy and characteristics are similar. At the beginning of the practice, you only notice the energy (if you are sensitive). But over time, in a few years of practice, the mind begins to realize that it is not only an energy, it is also a living and very present consciousness behind it. The evidence is countless and you begin to meet people who have similar or even deeper understandings and experiences.

@@elgebarstar5275 again, any testable, repeatable proof? Otherwise it's just mental masterbation.

I'm not a native English speaker, but I'll try to explain as best I can. Yes, there are proofs, but only if you practice for several years under the guidance of a master. Otherwise, there are no measuring tools for such a thing. There is no telescope to see in a parallel universe, just as there is no microscope to see spiritual energies. Obviously, there are also people with mental problems who can have illusions, or someone under the influence of drugs. The difference between a master in meditation or tantra and a man with psychological problems is huge. The master is much healthier mentally than so-called normal people. This is seen in behavior, in emotional control, in the power of mental focus and many others. To return to the material evidence, it also exists. Many tests have been done on people's brain waves. When a meditation master was measured, he could induce according to his desire the frequency that his brain was emitting. It could emit gamma waves all the time of the masseurs. This was amazing for scientists, because gamma waves were found in normal people very rarely and for a period of a few seconds, not 20 minutes or as long as the subject wanted. The computer records the side effect of meditation, it records only the frequency of the brain waves, it could not record what technique the master applied. So he couldn't read her mind. So also in the case of Reiki or Johrei treatments, there were a lot of tests in the 90s. After dozens of tests, it was proven that the cure exists and does not have a placebo effect. Several groups of people were treated by johrei therapists and researchers who were not therapists but simulated the treatment. At the end, only those who were treated by the therapists were cured and the blood tests had different values from the rest. I can tell you dozens of such examples, there are books and videos about this. But these evidences are only peripheral, they only record the secondary effects that are seen in the material plane. Exactly how the brain of a sleeping person is measured during sleep. It is possible to record whether he is dreaming or not, and the intensity of the dream, but not what he is dreaming about. Personally, I avoid giving explanations about such things because I know what it's like to not believe, or, unfortunately, to refuse any attempt to verify. Personally, I was totally unbelieving. But 20 years ago, due to some health problems, I ended up with a doctor who practices Reiki in addition to the conventional treatments at the hospital. I didn't believe in such a thing, but I was curious and had the spark of intelligence to try. The doctor told me from the beginning because he saw me skeptical: ""your attitude must be impartial like a scientist, don't reject or accept quickly, do not believe or reject, practice and verify"". I practiced, I saw and I wanted to research more. So I ended up learning several reiki systems, then practicing certain meditation techniques under the guidance of an experienced man, and for several years I have been practicing tantra, which is the highest level for me so far. Since I started practicing these things until now, I have met dozens of special people. My family and friends who practice are perfectly healthy physically, and emotionally and mentally they are very balanced. Before all this, we were (myself and those close to me) regular clients of doctors and emotional problems were considered normal. It is impossible to convince someone of these things. A combination of curiosity and some perseverance is necessary. It has nothing to do with faith. In reality, I realized that even the pragmatic operate on faith and not reason. They draw a conclusion because they believe in something and don't believe in something else... that's exactly how I was. My wife, who is a professor at the university of history, used to tell me that during the time of the Roman emperor Augustus, a military engineer reported that everything that could invent in the world was invented. That's exactly how we are the ones who believe or don't believe before we test, just like the Romanian engineer who believed that the science of that time discovered everything. I have studied classical music all my life and I tell you with the greatest confidence that there is musical talent. No laboratory in the world can prove talent and creativity by studying the human brain, but we accept it because we see its manifestations. If you are really curious and want to know, start practicing with someone knowledgeable and wait to progress in practice and you will see. Maybe in the future science will evolve and we will discover more, but until then it may be 50 years or 150 years. Until then, a certain tantric technique had reliable and accurate results for hundreds of years on thousands of practitioners. A practitioner can practice a certain technique for developing mental concentration, another for emotional detachment and another for physical will and energy. Every practice has certain concrete effects regardless of what we believe. My wife, who was also an atheist, practiced certain techniques related to Tara Mahavidya and they gave results without knowing exactly what these practices produce. He was doing it more out of inertia for me. So does a friend... or my mother, they practiced out of curiosity or saw results.
