Narrow gauge Baldwin, "Fairymead" has its first run down the Zigzag to the mainline at Mandalong Valley Tramway, New South Wales Australia. Following load trials, it is called upon to assist Fowler, "Ivy", back up the 1 in 16 grade before being slid back down the hill. Finally, "Boolambayte" a diesel mining loco is required to help.

All I see is a bunch of big kids playing with their trains. I love this so much. When are you guys planning on sharing your toys with the public?
@BelbinVideo
@BelbinVideo 8 ай бұрын
Unfortunately the regulations required to be public are too complex, and expensive, to ever do so.

Nice to see Fairymead back in one piece! Hopefully a proper repaint will come next? She's looking a bit filthy.

Fantastic railroad. The engine looks like Ward Kimball s little steamer.

Yes, very similar to Ward's loco. He (and Gerry Best) were very helpful providing information when I first purchased the remains of Fairymead.

They can't use sand for climb this? Only i ask of my ignorance, i don't know if the steamer Baldwin uses a sandome. (Sorry grammar: im from Argentina)
@BelbinVideo
@BelbinVideo 2 ай бұрын
Hi leonardo, we use a bit of sand occasionally, just thrown on, but with light loads we don't need it much. Thanks for your kind comments.

You should add more ballast to your track. But anyway how wide is your RR?

Do you think? It's moderately wide. Gauge is 2 feet.

What's the business throwing switches? It looks like you're throwing the points separately. if it's that hard to do a "split" switch, maybe an old-fashioned stub switch would do?
@BelbinVideo
@BelbinVideo 7 ай бұрын
I'm not sure what you mean by "throwing the points separately" but, yes, the blades on one set are being moved manually. They are, simply, waiting for the point lever to be fitted as they have just being installed and testing is continuing with different locos.

@@BelbinVideo That's pretty much what I assumed was happening when I saw you unthreading the point and re threading the usable one. Can't do it all at once so might as well get some use out of it anyway.
