Yeah, when I saw the brute form all I thought was the writers must really want Chiro to fight a Bane from Batman type villain.

I think they were going the whole deal with the devil rout and were trying to make the Skelton King as intimidating as possible by not allowing anyone get close.

I agree that he was at his best in his debut, but I never really minded the brute form. To me it showed that he was willing to go to any length to get his revenge. But I hated the fucking clone! I just couldn't stand looking at the damned thing, knowing it wasn't the real Mandarin, and that the real Mandarin was either dead or rotting in some prison. What bothered me even more was that everyone was treating him like he was the original. I understand they probably didn't know about the switch, but it would have been interesting if they had figured it out.

I follow Ciro Nieli on FB, and while he does seem interested on at least finishing the last season like it deserves, he hates Disney and would probably prefer to do it with another network. That is if Disney is willing to give up the rights to the show and return them to him as the creator.

Someone apparently had an interview with Ciro Nieli who finally answered the question. The original Mandarin is still alive, he's just locked up somewhere, and they supposedly had more planned for him.

I have a theory that the clone is the original, and the beefy Mandarin is a clone. First of all, the clone Mandarin frequently used power primate abilities like monkey mind scream and levitation, but Antauri said that the power primate couldn’t be replicated in clones. The big Mandarin never had any power primate abilities, more fitting of a clone. The big Mandarin was in charge of cloning chiro, which makes no sense as Mandarin is a warrior. It makes more sense that as a clone, he would be suited to run a cloning experiment. The clone Mandarin is organic, as seen when he decays in episode 52 with Valeena and Chiro in the dark one dimension. Plus, why would Skeleton King take Mandarin, the strongest monkey, make him weaker and big, and then just replace him with a clone who resembles the old Mandarin. I think the big Mandarin was a placeholder until Mandarin was finished being prepared by Skeleton King.

yea sometimes i wasnt expecting the way james delivered his lines, but he was great at making mandarin sound sadistic and made gutteral noises that made the character seem crazy
