I lived in Mandurah, actually just south in Falcon in the late 70s, now living in Cheltenham UK. I remember Mandurah being a sleepy little town population just over 7 thousand, that had remained like that during the 60s and 70s. What happened to it to of grown 12 times greater.

We'll add Balga to the list of videos to do. Balga had a stigma years ago due to the large number of state housing in the suburb and the problems that attracts. Most of the state housing has been sold to private individuals and it is undergoing redevelopment at the moment.

It's hard to say as every area does have a few bad apples and Mandurah is a large area. We would suggest that if you're interested in an area that you visit it so you can see how it actually is.

Any idea what council rates are in Perth?

They vary depending on the size of the house, what the rental value is and what council you're with. They can be anywhere between $2,000 to $4,000 per annum in Perth suburbs.
