In Brazil we call it "lobo guará" that means "guará wolf"

I have a rescue dog that has a strong resemblance to the maned wolf. That’s what led me to this video. She is all black though, but has long, long slim legs and a very slim built with upright ears. She has the same high pitched squeal when she’s excited to see us!

Remanje Carter Yeah! I've got two axolotls and they're awesome. One of them has a fluked tail where he lost it due to him falling while I was cleaning his tank and the top of his tail grew back wrong in a fluke 🤣

They are absolutely beautiful! If we could domesticate these animals? Just like how we did it with the fox. But I don't think it would become humans best friend like dogs. The evolution takes very long time.

Yes it probably would take a long time and some animals just don't have the right disposition for domestication - I can see where you're coming from though, they are quite lovely canids

I was curious about it speed. I saw a tablet with the speed of praticaly all animals, there said that maned wolfs can reach 76 km/h. I'm seeing the number 76km/h pop up in a few places, but I can't trace it back to the source, so I'm not entirely sure where that number is coming from. However, if we look at this book: www.google.com/books/edition/Mammal_Anatomy/mTPI_d9fyLAC?hl=en&gbpv=1&dq=maned%20wolf%20speed&pg=PA243&printsec=frontcover we can see that grey wolves can juuust about reach that speed at 70km/h (and a quick google search says they might be slightly slower, but coyotes can also reach this speed: tinyurl.com/y648h97t ) We can also look to this book: www.google.com/books/edition/Grzimek_s_Animal_Life_Encyclopedia_Mamma/EnRMAQAAIAAJ which states that African wild dogs can reach 55kp/h. And then greyhounds (the fastest living dogs) have a top verified speed of about 67km/h, but there are unverified records of them moving even faster. So, I don't think it's unheard of to think that maned wolves can match this pace, though which canid is truly the fastest might be a bit more ambiguous! Hope that helps some!
