As you set these parameters in live mode and camera adjusted the changes which is quite beneficial for user interface but most cameras don't depict same as Your Sony camera did.

Built in exposure meter is also very helpful but it fails many times when you are shooting in various lighting conditions, for example if there is a bright light behind your subject then it can’t meter the brightness difference many time and you have to rely on your keen eyes or bracketing exposure + - one stop up or down. Or else us external exposure meter. Overall getting perfect exposure is an art and need lot of practice.
