The Manfrotto MVH500AH tripod head has a standard 3/8-16" mount so it will be compatible to mount on any tripod with that matching mount. Dana G. askbh{at}bandh{dot}com

What would recommend for the Fuji GFX100 - the 504 weight rating is line - planning to acquire monopod for tight spot shooting and lower form factor situations - currently using carbon fiber benro and Linhof plate with quick releases which is nice but not for video of course.

If only shooting with a DSLR what about the Manfrotto MHXPRO-2W Fluid Video Head ? It then uses the same quick release plate as my other accessories. Genuinely quick too, no fiddly side screw to tighten - which seems to me a disaster waiting to happen (if you forget).
@BandH
@BandH 9 жыл бұрын
The MHXPRO-2W would be another option, yes. If you have other tripods/monopods using the RC2 quick release system, and don't have any overly long or heavy lenses, you could look into the XPRO. *Christina* askbh@bandh.com bhpho.to/K76dWZ

C'mon. This video shows about 20lbs of rig and states a 9lb limit. In reality this head struggles to control over 3 and a half pounds with the counterbalance preset. It can hold maybe 4 1/2 lbs total comfortably with decent pan and tilt feedback but the counter balance will be overwhelmed. This is for a small dslr and lens only with maybe a hot shoe mic that's about it. I use it with a dslr and minimal rig w follow focus only and that comes to 5lbs which is just about too much. Let's get real here. The rig in the video needs to be atop a 509 not this 500.

Question, I heard that this specific fluid head can pan left to right on the head if installed on Manfrotto monopods such as the 561BHDV or any of its kind. Is there any truth to that? Perhaps on a separate short video explaining it? Thanks

I have the 502,it's so great! I also would like to buy the Manfrotto MVM500A monopod. Are the quick plates compatible? I also need a quick release plate for my Glidecam HD200. Which one I would need? The Manfrotto 357?
@BandH

The quick release plates on the 502 Manfrotto Video Head is not compatible with the MVM500A plate. You will need the 500PLONG plate for the MVM500A head, which is B&H # MA500PLONG. |Heather S|

Your tripod is not a very good match for this head. We advise mounting this head to a more robust /professional set of sticks. This is one of the kits we offer: Manfrotto MVH500AH Flat Base Fluid Head, 190XB Tripod Legs, Padded Case Kit - B&H # MAMVH500AHK2 .bhpho.to/1nYTbIh Please contact us via e-mail if you have additional questions: askbh@bandh.com. Thank you so much for this info, I think Manfrotto 055XPROB with 500AH is good on your website, but I am jst wondering Can I use this tripod for Konova k3/k5 100cm slider? would that be sturdy enough to hold the weight of camera(Canon 60D - 24-70mm 2.8 lense) and slider? any suggestion on this?
@BandH
@BandH 10 жыл бұрын
You could use the 055XPROB to support the Konova k3/k5 100cm slider with the 60D and 24-70mm f/2.8 lens attached. If you are worried about stability, you could always use some sandbags or an apron with some ballast to add some stability. *Christina* askbh@bandh.com

I am having trouble figuring out how to use my Canon C100 with the Manfrotto MVH500A Fluid Drag Video Head with MVT502AM Tripod. The plate comes with one giant screw but that only holds the plate to the front of the camera, When I put it on the tripod the back of my camera is lose and can slide around. How do I solve this problem?

The Canon TB-1 Tripod Adapter Base is compatible with the Canon C100 and C300, and the XF305, XF300, XF205, XF200, XF105, XF100 professional camcorders. It supports both 3/8"-16 and 1/4"-20 tripod screws. It is designed to accommodate 3/8" and 1/4" tripod screws. bhpho.to/2mhQOep >Mark

I'm looking to get either the 502 or the 500. I plan on using it with a Konova K2 slider. Which do you suggest? There is a killer deal on the 055xpro3 with the 502 head.
@BandH
@BandH 9 жыл бұрын
Both are great choices. The Manfrotto 500 head is a bit smaller in size so it may work best on the Kenova K2. The 502 has tension control for tilting and panning, so you can make it very slow and smooth or very loose and quick. >Chuck

How to determine if I should get the Flat Base or the 60mm half ball on the MVH500?
@BandH
@BandH 7 жыл бұрын
Check out our article: How to Buy a Video Tripod: bhpho.to/2k2PpqR 100mm half balls are going to provide more stability, and 150mm-diameter half balls or flat bases are good for camera systems that weigh 80 pounds or more. Smaller sizes, such as a 60mm half balls, are appropriate for smaller, lighter cameras. The big advantage of ball bases, also referred to as half ball or claw ball, is that they allow quicker and easier leveling of the fluid head. Without a ball base, you have to adjust the individual leg heights to level the head. Most heads have a built-in bubble level. One that is illuminated for working in dim conditions is more desirable, but any kind of bubble level is very useful for leveling. Many heads are available with either a flat base or a ball base, and while it may seem an obvious choice to get a head with a ball base for fast and easy leveling, there is a compelling reason to consider a head with a flat base, especially when using a camera system that weighs less than 20 pounds. The reason is the camera slider. Small, portable, lightweight camera sliders for medium-sized and smaller cameras have made it easy to add production values to shoots. >Mark

A fully loaded rig like 1:09 weights very close to 11lb. Do you really recommend it?
@BandH
@BandH 9 жыл бұрын
The Manfrotto 500 will support up to 11lbs. Generally I like to have extra stability so for a fully rigged camera I would lean more towards the Manfrotto 502 or 504 heads personally. Dana G. AskBH@BHPhoto.com

how do these 2 compared to the Manfrotto MHXPRO-2W 2-Way Pan/Tilt Head?
@BandH
@BandH 6 жыл бұрын
The MHXPRO-2W is smaller than the heads featured here and lacks some of the features of those heads. Some features the MHXPRO-2W lacks would be drag resistance, a built in counterbalance system, and a wider support platform/quick release plate.

How tight do I turn the Pan lock? Seems like Im going to mess something up
@BandH
@BandH 8 жыл бұрын
The tighter the lock, the more resistance you will have while panning, it should only be as tight as is necessary for your usage. In general, it would not be wise to go much beyond hand tight as it may damage the head. If you have any further questions please email askbh@bhphoto.com *Andrea

can 500AH be use with manfrotto Be Free tripod
@BandH
@BandH 8 жыл бұрын
+Samuel Wijerama The Manfrotto MVH500AH Fluid Video Head with Flat Base would be compatible with the Manfrotto BeFree Compact Travel Aluminum Alloy Tripod. It is important to note that the flat base of the head would be larger than that of the tripod, when the center column is extended it would make the tripod more top heavy. If using this combination, weighing down the tripod is strongly recommended. *Andrea

I am needing a quick release plate for my Manfrotto Tripod Model 3031 Are they available; what number do I need to order a plate please. TY

A10TOES Unfortunately, the Bogen/Manfrotto 3031 is the model number for the tripod legs, not of the tripod head. To make a recommendation for a quick release plate, I would need to know the model number of the tripod head you are using on your Bogen/Manfrotto 3031 tripod. If you can send this information to us at askbh [at] bhphotovideo [dot] com, we could then assist you with your inquiry.

It's really not a review without unbiased pro and con comparisons to other similar brands and models. Otherwise, it comes across as a biased infomercial for one particular brand. In this case, Manfrotto. FYI
