The part about editors not letting mangakas finish popular manga is so fucking sad. I understand it from business perspective, but it's so much better to have a good plot that's fully finished in 100 chapters than to see your favourite manga drag on forever, slowly becoming worse and worse

Me while reading Nisekoi, that manga lasted WAY longer than needed. Halfway in the story it becomes very obvious they tried to stretch it as long as possible, like 70% of the chapters on the second half were practically fillers.

I have a feeling that the mangaka complaining about deadlines and weekly publications was a cry for help from Akasaka lol. Because don't forget that he was not only writing Oshi no Ko weekly at this time, but was also writing AND drawing Kaguya-sama weekly at the same time. I don't know how he managed to do that, but I understand why he retired from drawing manga after ending Kaguya sama.

why would he complain when he is the one who started OnK while Kaguya was still published. He doesn't have anyone else to blame other than himself. The fact that he started another manga after Kaguya ended (albeit only as an author, of which unfortunately already got axed) says that he's confident he could do it. To say nothing of his addiction to playing Apex Legends with streamers/vtubers taking a significant chunk of his time.

I’m Japanese. The magazine name probably doesn’t have deep meaning. I think it’s normal name. When I heard the name of the magazine, I was worried that English speakers might take it the wrong way, but I'm glad you didn't.

The Perfect way of showing "I told ya" because the EGO needed to get checked (Shoutout to Aqua & Abiko-sensei). Irony is that because expectations become our own enemy in how we associate it to success, it causes more harm than good. Engaging in the level of "arrogance" that something can only be done the way you want it because of the best "results" is delusional...putting it lightly. The world, rather this hellishly creative endeavor, moved the way it did because of the standards being forced, but not communicated effectively. That is why only occured that being in set frames of mind usually makes people get out of touch with reality, even when they WANT to be right so much. Sheesh

They actually feature a bunch of interviews in Playboy Japan and the underage girls have completely normal photoshoots with the interviews, too. Of course, I'm not in Japan so I've only ever read fan translated idol interviews on blogs, so idk how the rest of the magazine fills out lmao
