Until Vasco da Gama landed in Calicut, a port town in the Malabar Coast of Kerala, the mango fruit was not known to Europeans. The Portuguese adopted the Malayalam word maanga in Portuguese. Who then wrote a letter to their British friends that they have found a new fruit in India called manga. Since there were no typewriters and the letter was written by hand, the British renamed it as mango, since most of Portuguese words end in “o” and those found in the new world ended in “o” as in avocado, potato, tomato, tobacco, and so on. This new word Mango soon entered the English vocabulary.

I just love to watch your channel and try never miss an episode . I remember my father used to sometimes bring home the finest quality of Sindhri Mangoes , they were also very expensive in those days in Hyderabad Sind. However in this video at location 11:36 I was shocked and disguised the farmer is openly adding Carbide filled bags into the crates just to hasten by artificial means the color of the mango skin .This process causes the mango flesh to absorb the carbide gasses making it very dangerous and unfit for human consumption .Calcium carbide (CaC2), a carcinogen, is widely used for artificial ripening of mangoes. The usage of CaC2 for mango ripening results in serious health issues like neurological disorders, ulcers, hypoxia, memory loss. In India this process is banded by the Department of Health and any farmer caught in the act would be highly fined or sent to jail. I just don't understand why mango growers have to add poison to the worlds best mango variety. I believe the farmer in your clip is openly showing the use of the Carbide sachets is just plain ignorant . WILL SOMEONE PLEASE EDUCATE THE MANGO GROWERS OF PAKISTAN.
