Do not go gentle into that good night, Old age should burn and rave at close of day; Rage, rage against the dying of the light. Though wise men at their end know dark is right, Because their words had forked no lightning they Do not go gentle into that good night. Good men, the last wave by, crying how bright Their frail deeds might have danced in a green bay, Rage, rage against the dying of the light. Wild men who caught and sang the sun in flight, And learn, too late, they grieved it on its way, Do not go gentle into that good night. Grave men, near death, who see with blinding sight Blind eyes could blaze like meteors and be gay, Rage, rage against the dying of the light. And you, my father, there on that sad height, Curse, bless, me now with your fierce tears, I pray. Do not go gentle into that good night. Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

Jamie Russell That is true, but that's not difficult - better sounds have come out of my arse than from most 'artists' around. I love the way the Manics can make music that strongly recalls 70s rock/pop (this is reminiscent of Don't Go Breaking My Heart, of all things, Enola/Alone is a close cousin of Peter Frampton's Show Me The Way, and there are others) yet still sound fresh. I saw James Dean Bradfield doing Wham's Last Christmas on telly once - they don't give a fuck, if they like it, they'll do it.

I don't see a problem with similarity, more of quality. Don't Go Breaking my Heart (suggested by people below) was one of Elton's weakest though most famous hits and this is well below the Manics' best too

mizofan It's possible that the MSPs have run out of inspiration - it happens to the best, especially if they've been around for a while. This particular band are interesting - they appear to be "indie", not fully mainstream, I hear all sorts of influences in their work that you wouldn't expect, and in Bradfield have a great tunesmith, vocalist and guitarist.

Oh they have been a great band, maybe my favourites, this song is ok (just not among their quality singles), it could grow on me, I slightly prefer the other 2 new album songs on video- I'll still be interested in the whole album. I didn't think Lifeblood and Know Your Enemy were great but then they bounced back again, Journal for Plague Lovers superb and I like Futurology. And I'm glad they have a thing for Japan- I love classic Japanese films (and prints and some books too). And I'm an Elton fan too- his golden era of course was the early-mid 70s.

For those who believe in the Word of God, please read the following: 2500 years ago, prophets stated that the once nation-less Israelites will become a nation. The bible references the formation of Jerusalem. (Isaiah 27:6) (Jeremiah 16:15, 30:3, 31:4&17, 33:7) (Ezekiel 11:17, 20:41-42, 28:25) (Amos 9:14-15) (Zechariah 2:12, 8:7-8) In 1948, the world recognized Israel as a nation. All but the Palestine recognized Israel, as to seeing nearly half of the newly formed Israel’s population was Palestinian. It was stated in the Bible that the Israelites would not have a nation for a few thousand years. As you may know, the land of the Israelites during biblical times was 12 separate regions. The prophet Ezekiel stated that Judah, the southern region of Israel, and Ephraim, the northern region, will become one and share one ruler. Speaking figuratively, he meant the North and South land will unite and have one ruler, be it Israeli, American, or Palestinian. His prophecy was fulfilled in 1968 after the 6 Day War, Israel gained south territory through military victory. The North and South land became one through bloodshed and conquest. (Ezekiel 37: 16-22) Jesus stated that one can tell the season by looking at the branches and leaves of a fig tree. Green branches and green leaves means that summer is near. He is referencing the season to his second coming. Through His word, we can conclude the fig tree is referencing the world. In other words, one looks at the state of the world and can tell that the second coming of Christ is near. (Matthew 24: 32-34) (Mark 13:28-30) (Luke 21: 29-32) The time of the “fig tree” is after 1948, because that is when the prophecy of the verse Isaiah 27:6 was fulfilled. People came together and started forming Israel. That was the beginning of the “days to come, Jacob(The decedents of this biblical character are the Israelites) will take root, Israel will bud and blossom, and fill all the world with fruit.” Later on, the book of Matthew states that the second coming Christ will happen, and “this generation (referencing the generation currently building Israel that) will not pass till all these things be fulfilled. Generation can be 30-120 years, since God set a man’s maximum lifespan to 120 years, and the average age in which biblical characters had children was age 30 (Genesis 6:3) 1948+120=2068 We don’t know the hour and minute that Jesus is coming. But Jesus said he will come before the end of the fig tree generation. The fig tree generation is marked when Israel became a nation, figuratively speaking when the people of Jacob planted this fig tree. We can deduct that the generation that created Israel is the last generation before Jesus comes. So what will the world be like before Jesus comes? Beginning of sorrows (Mattew24:4-8)(Mark13:5-8)(Luke21:7-11) New world government and Leader(Anti Christ) (Daniel8:9-14, 8:23-25, 9:27, 11:31-32, 11:36-39) (Revelations13:5-8) Jesus will come after tribulation (Matthew 24: 29-30) (Mark 13:24-27) (Luke 21: 25-27) (2Peter3:10) (Revelations1:7) There will be great tribulation that will make history. (Isaiah 13:9-10&13; 24:1; 34:1-4; 66:15) (Jeremiah 4:23-28) (Ezekiel 32:7-8; 38:22) (Daniel 12:1) (Haggai 2:21-22) These verses reference the land shaking, the sky disappearing, and the stars falling from the sky. (Matthew 24:21) (Mark 13:19) (Luke 21:23) What will happen during the tribulation? A meteor will hit the earth. Roughly 1/3rd of the world’s oceans, lakes, and land will be destroyed. (Revelations 8:7-13) 3-7 years (Daniel 4:16; 7:25; 8:13-14, 12:6-12) (Revelations 11:2-3; 13:5) later the remaining oceans and lake will become unsuitable to support life, there will be no peace, everyone will be miserable. (Matthew 10:21) (Mark 13:12) (Revelations 16:2-4 & 8-11) (Hosea 4:3) (Amos 8:9-10) (Zephaniah 1:3) (Zechariah 14:12-15) (Ezekiel 7:1-27) There will also be a great earthquake, God’s last judgment. (Hebrews12:26-27) (Revelations 6:12-14; 16:17-18) (Isaiah 24:17-20; 51:6) (Joel 2:10; 3:16) (Haggai 2:6-7) This earthquake will mark the beginning of God’s Kingdom of 1000 years. The earth will be rearranged. When this happens, you know Jesus is about to come.(Hebrews9:28) (2Peter 3:10) (1Thessalonians 4:16-17) (1Corinthians 15:51-52) (Revelations 7:13-17) For those who received the Holy Spirit, you will be part of the 1000 year kingdom. (Revelations 20:4-6) (2Peter 3:12-13) (Isaiah 66:22;65:17-25;11:6-9) Servants of the Lord must look after the well being of fellow servants (Matthew 24:45-46) (Luke 12:42-43) Just as Joel spread news of disaster to come, so must we (Joel 1:2-3) Those who aren’t born from water and spirit, you may not enter the Kingdom of God. In order to be saved, you must be baptized and born again with the Holy Spirit. (John 3:5) Once the Holy Spirit enters your body, it will guide you and give you strength to live until Jesus’ salvation comes. (John16:13) Within this generation, there will be great tribulation that will shake all the kingdoms of the world. All people, regardless of faith, will go through the tribulation. After the last angel sounds the trumpet, at the end of the tribulation, then Jesus will and rapture the believers.
