Regretting not being the person Yah wants us to be is so true, but things we can change. Material things mean nothing in the big scheme of things and things that can't be changed. Thank you for these words of wisdom.🌷

Thank you kind sir; our family is honored to learn the ways to serve God properly. The burden is lifted now that we realize the beauty of our dreams. Happy Hanukkah to you and yours 🕯please wash the sins we've made as we respect our parents to the fullest extent of the LAWS they've set for us. L'chaim we lift up our hearts to you. ❤💙❤ our candles are for you in G-d we trust again forever and ever and anon...

Todah, Rabbi Manis for your explanation of regrets. Your explanation is being helpful to me, as I ponder on the regrets of the past. I am starting to sort them to two different types, helpful and not helpful. HaShem will bless you and your family this new year!

Sometimes the regret is part of the grieving process. But we definitely cannot hold onto it.

I hear the roav speaking about teshuva in an intellectual, philosophical way, but I think the G'd of Jisroa'el wants a spiritual teshuva as per Dev. 30 verse 6. Doing teshuva (from my POV) means asking yourself the question if you are willing and able to lay yourself on an imaginary altar to let your heart be circumcised before the Creator.

Perhaps one should use two different words for two different meanings. It is not that there are two types of regret. Is that there is repentance AND regret. Regret is the first kind described. The second is repentance, that is "a change of one's mind". Now the "should've" or "could've" are never repentance but a regret or a lamentation PERIOD. No One doing the Will of God could ever wonder, "could've or should've". Lamentation is not of God. Any spirit that doubts what IS, as not Perfect is NOT a repentance, but a masked declaration of Pride and the opposition to the Will of God. God is Good, then everithing is God's, then All is Good! Da'at. The one that questions the wisdom of God as in "I should have been more..." is NOT KNOWN By God.
