The Woodland Escape

2 жыл бұрын

Peter leaves his 18'th century homestead to hunt deer on Manitoulin Island. He traverses Bridal Veil Falls and discusses the geography of the island - its status as the largest fresh water island in the world. He discusses the history of the indigenous peoples on the island from before first contact. He touches on the use of the island by the voyageurs and the decimation of the population by European diseases. The island is resettled after the War of 1812, but a portion the island remains unceded by the natives.
Peter returns to his pioneer home to begin construction of his birch bark canoe, by first constructing a temporary shelter for his shaving horse.
