We also added grub-btrfs so you simply can also boot up an old snapshot do something there and reboot and select another one. Since we hide the bootloader you may need to hit ESC to display it.

BTRFS+snapshots is a must in distros like manjaro that are rolling release and targeted towards new users. Truly a life saver

You covered all the salient points and deficiencies in the mentioned two. On a weekly basis, I have been looking forward to your well researched presentations. I tried to watch today's Manjaro presentation, but had to leave it for a while. It took me three sitting attempts to complete the entire presentation. It is really a very significant distribution that I will be testing for my requirements. In the 29.47 seconds you covered the essentials from A to Z. I do have a suggestion about how to improve your presentations. It is called "Short pausing at the end of paragraphs or chapters". The same pauses you would do if you were doing a presentation "face to face". For the 29.47 minutes limit to which you edited your review, there was about two seconds of pause --almost zero silence. Pauses of one or 1.5 seconds pauses are so important , so that we watchers could grasp a topic change, and better appreciate the effort you put into reviewing, videoing the material, and editing. Do you have a time limit imposed by KZfaq that you must complete a video in under 30 minutes? Please consider this paragraph as providing postive feedback.

I just installed Manjaro Gnome 21.1.5 on a couple of machines overnight. We were looking for a Linux with the same aesthetic & functionality of Chrome OS, but with the added functionality of native Linux. Absolutely floored by the polish and attention to detail. Until now I have been a stickler for KDE but the Manjaro Gnome implementation is so impressive I am happy to use it for the first time since the massive upheaval to Gnome 3..

Great video, never knew about timeshift utility on Linux. Also Manjaro seems to be making a lot of nice enhancements as usual. I love how they bundle all these Window managers, desktop environments, etc. separately pre customized and it saves a lot of time.

Maybe I have missed this, but does this way of installing give you the option to enable LUKS for your root partition?

On this specific distribution, I have an issue running games in fullscreen on Steam. I can do so, but if I run my mouse downwards, the little graphic user interface tray at the bottom-center is triggered to pop up; thus making my game stutter and flicker whenever I'm aiming downwards. Any suggestions, anybody?

I installed manjaro 21 on my new hp envy but it didn't found the partition or something. So it wouldn't boot. Than i installed Ubuntu and it's booted fine. I don't know why, to bad.

your web app for youtube did not get removed after restore. Why would this be like this? Are user documents and files deleted as well in timeshift? do config changes in home directory also get restored?

I think it is weird for people outside of our community to see that we get excited about a Linux distro including better support for a particular file system 😄 (well I sure know that I do get excited - looking good, Manjaro!)

Not sure if the other video you mentioned when dealing with timeshift has already been dropped but if not - since it's been a long time since I last used linux I would be interested to see you heavily rice the gnome environment then 'fix the damage' if you will. My Ubuntu minimal install and all snap removed after reboot: 674Mb. Not bad for Gnome. I like the layout switcher on this Manjaro Gnome.

Did they abandon the "Matcha Dark Sea" Gnome theme as the default? Looks much nicer than the standard Adwaita theme which they've reverted to here for some reason. Just IMO though, not the biggest deal in the world but I liked the "Manjaro" look and feel out of the box over more vanilla distros, and this looks very vanilla now. EDIT: I see it's still installed, just not selected, which is good I guess. Nice review as always, I liked the tip about creating web apps like youtube :)

Just a funny observation. One thing I've always found a tad frustrating with the Linux eco-system is I never know how to pronounce anything. In this video, Tyler pronounces GNOME as I always have (Nomb/Knowm [i.e. silent G]), but I hear a lot of people pronounce it "Gah-Nomb/Gah-Knowm" and "Gah-Nomie/Gah-Knowmy). OpenSUSE has a bizarre list of pronunciations as well (I've always pronounced it "OpenSwayzee" but don't have a phucking clue if that's correct lol).

Hay Tayler, again I want to say thank you for this awesome review. I want to tell you that I just Installed this fantastic distro and I'm impressed so far except some niggling issues. My problem is I couldn't log into the x11 version, when I try to login to X11, it spits me out to the login screen again. Currently, in Wayland, I couldn't wake from suspend without a hard reboot unfortunately, I'm not even using dedicated graphics BTW. I will highly appreciate if you have a solution for this. Thanks!!
