Seeing ''Chilla's Art'' in the title makes me genuinely smile

Can you really call a house "abandoned" if it's inhabited by an entire family of evil spirits? Or a scraggly guy in a puffy jacket, for that matter?!

That effect where you could only see the outline of the person behind the curtain when your flashlight wasn't shining on it was very cool, it spooked the hell out of me. I'd say this one is a 10/10 for Chilla's Art.

Love the title. It's written as 自撮 which means to film something on your own, but written as 自殺 which would be pronounced the same, it means s*icide.

I love that Chilla's name has become synonymous with a good, spooky time.

Spoiler for the end of the game I guess: This is why you don't go above and beyond for your boss. Also, when the locker opens at the end the killer's little pout cracked me up. Imagine you're about to get sacrificed to the outhouse god and the last thing you see is this dude giving you Blue Steel.

The fact that the main character thought that backing the car out of the tunnel and getting out was a good thing is crazy

Something chilling about the game making you kill a koi. Those aren't eaten in Japan at all since they're more of a symbol (plus carp is an acquired taste - a Christmas dish where I'm from but not all cultures eat it, since it's considered a "dirty fish") This felt very analogue horror inspired but in a good way. The walking censor bars are weirdly chilling as well as the random Mary's appearing.

The scariest thing this that there are people who had squatters in the attic and didn't know about it for weeks.

The game reminds of this old youtube channel where the guy tours his house during a storm. The house loops itself and the rooms become more corroded and unidentifiable. I wonder if it influenced this game. I think markiplier made a reaction to that video

The atmosphere of the house is absolutely terrifying. They really did a good job on making it as creepy as possible. Also, Manly and his slow turns are killing me, I keep anticipating a jumpscare to happen! 😅

The whole tattered aspect of the place reminds me of the “My House Walkthrough”, given the ambient sound and walking through a place that feels like it definitely doesn’t belong to you

17:00 this is quickly becoming one of my favorite effects in horror games. There's something incredibly eerie about just covering stuff with a black box and leaving it up the the player's imagination.

Dang, Chilla’s Art really stepped up the graphics quality since the last time I saw their work. There is something charming about the retro graphics, but I am excited to see what they’ll do with an updated style. Edit: Okay this is giving me huge Resident Evil vibes and I’m here for it.

I was not expecting this to turn into a Christmas game.... Also the reveal that the censored blocks are Mary and Joseph statues moving around is brilliantly-terrifying.

The model used for the antagonist (57:11) really looks like the infamous japanese cult leader Shoko Asahara, making this game even scarier imo

This is definitely my favorite chilla's art game so far. I like that their games usually focus on social commentary but this was an unexpected departure and it was so cool.

For some reason the black censor bar "enemies" scared me more than anything else Chilla's Art has made. Like whatever is slowly following you is so horrific and alien that reality glitches out and the only way to represent this entity is with a censored square!

Interesting that this game has many Chritstian elements that gradually appeared the more into the story. At first the house is typical Japan style even with that tanuki, and then there's picture of a guy (i presume jesus), the old man praying with cross, the outhouse voice speaking in old english style, the inverting of crosses around the house, Mary statues, cross graves,... wonder what could these mean, something satanic going on here.

I used to really love watching horror game playthroughs, but ever since I developed a heart condition I can't really watch people scream and get jumped all the time so I had to stop for a few years. You're the only channel I can watch them on now, because you seem so calm the entire time, the sound mixing is level, and yeah, I do jump a little at the scares, but it's way better. I don't feel like my chest hurts by the end of it and I got to enjoy interesting content. Thank you, Manly.

Having stayed in some of these old timey Japanese houses as an Airbnb guest in the past when I still lived and traveled around Japan, this game's location and atmosphere really chilled me. Well done, game developer!

Given it was a Chilla' Art piece, I was honestly expecting it to be *just* squatters (whether mentally ill or otherwise). Yeah, some of his work has been supernatural before, but he's great at the "terror is other people" and I best remember his mundane-horror works. This was still really good, and I like how much cleaner the graphics are (the added quality has been used to great effect), I just kept waiting for a twist that didn't really show up.

I think it’s sweet that the guy made a grave for the dead birds he found. Edit: Never mind… He fed it to the terlet…

At 57:10, is that Shoko Asahara? Asahara, for those unaware was the founder of the Aum Shinrikyo cult that carried out the infamous Sarin gas attacks in Tokyo. Also, while ostensibly a Buddhist cult, Asahara co-opted many Christian ideas, going so far as to refer to himself as Christ himself

I find these Japanese sliding door houses to be tremendously creepy. Something about the layout and the thin walls I think.

One of my favorite games from Chilla's Art. It's basically a haunted house simulator, but it's very effective at doing that. Those Mary statues caught me by surprise and really creeped me out.

this game's really great, i wonder to some extent if it's a homage to the iconic "my house walk-through" video with its sliding doors, doll room, the presence of grandmother and grandfather, and most prominently the tattered state of it all. very chilling and i can't wait to see other people's playthroughs of this game. For those of us who aren't fluent in Japanese, the title "Jisatsu 自撮" is a play on words in Japanese. The pronunciation is that of a word for unaliving yourself, but the kanji sort of means like "selfie"

Nice game, but i do wish we'd heard anything from the protag thoughout the game it's hard to believe they wouldn't have been freaking out i think that was a missed element in this game. Especially considering they didn't try to escape at all even when being hesitant to go in the first place..

At 2:45 you can spot "Christ Crowned By Thorns", painted by Antonello da Messina, an Italian Painter. It belongs to a pictorial cycle called "Ecce Homo", that means "Behold the Man" a biblical phrase in the New Testament; just a little art info :D

I always get so excited when another Chilla's game comes out.

Gotta say, the devs have really been improving with each game they make. Some of the scares in this are really inventive both on a technical and pacing level.

I always enjoy Chillas Art but something about this one was so unnerving in a way I haven’t felt with their other games, I loved it

so jisatsu in japanese means the simpler word for unaliving yourself. so let that play into your interpretation of the game

Seeing all those mannequins makes me miss "In Sound Mind". In that game you also had to deal with them briefly, but you were able to give them individual faces by putting post-its on their heads. Pretty sure Manly would love that game, too, although it would be too large to be covered on his channel.

Man Chilla's Art is on a roll. So many games and they are all bangers too.

_A house possessed_ Really great freaky eerie atmosphere all throughout the game. Agree about the cinematic feeling to the fright. Every time you slid a door open, I felt like there could be something right there. The use of the sounds, the sliding panels, the cupboards, the mannequins - all were very legit creepy. The evil thing in the ground giving orders was pretty cool, including the things it asked for. I can see a child slowly becoming a slave to it. It also seemed like the house aged with each tape you found. It gave the appearance of elapsed time, with the house becoming more decrepit and corrupted. It was a slow burn, but the payoff was pretty good.

Since the Boy who got manipulated by the Demon doesn't have a name, i'll give him one: From now on, i will call him Hiroshi Seino.

My only complaint is that Chilla's art games are never long enough! I want their games to be several hours long! They're just so good at building suspense and atmosphere! The story is always really good! I never feel like im ready for it be over!

It's funny how the spirit doesn't help with the ritual, or trys to prevent it and just keeps playing pranks. I mean, if I were in that situation I would prefer that whatever is haunting around there would give some simple instructions. Instead of throwing the tapes around the house, just put them neatly next to the TV and have them numbered. Or give clearly wrong instructions that makes me leave quickly (either by driving off or by joining the spirits, either works). But no, they just keep locking doors, hide behind curtains, make noise, move things around.

This reminds me of the "My house -walk through" video. Super creepy looping video of some person doing a walk through of their house that decays more as tike goes on.

Ahaha, the end when you get a good look at the killer, that's totally a reference to Shoko Asahara, the creepy cult leader that killed a bunch of people.

Love Chilla's work, this one had me on the edge of my seat. Normally I don't like suspense horror, but the story was so intriguing I had to find out what was going to happen.

This was one of the spookiest Chilla's Art games in a while. I love their more grounded/real-life horror too, but toilet ghost was genuinely super unnerving.

Maybe it's just the nature of old, abandoned, traditional Japanese houses, but this game reminded me a lot of that viral video of someone walking around their "flooded" house until it turns into a P.T. type nightmare.

This was great. Really loved this, the vibe was immaculate.

A 1-second lag spike in a horror game is never a good sign

The scariest thing about this game is the fact that they STILL kept their yard in the same terrible condition when they were still alive. My irrational fear of hiding ninjas fundamentally makes me the perfect groundkeeper and I always have my yard immaculate.
