This is the very first appearance of Renée in the rôle of Manon (the official video available on DVD in the same production was 2 years later with a partly different cast). This is definitely a signature role for her and with this performance she instantly entered in history for this part.
This document is part of a large project aimed to make available to a large audience for the first time many precious testimonies of great opera singers in memorable performances recorded live in the 90's and early 2000"s. This project has been made possible thanks to the support and generosity of a group of friends devoted to opera.
