from my understanding, optical cable is unable to output more than 5.1 channels. i think the video demonstration may not be a good representation.

@@darrenc2370 you are very correct. Optical can't do more than 5.1 channels. And those 5.1 channel audio is not High resolution. They are compressed audio formats like ac3 for Dolby digital. However optical can support high resolution audio for upto 24 bits and 192 KHz but only for stereo channel output. Not multi channel. Digital audio for True HD and Atmos, DTS HD Master Audio, DTSX, Auro 3D etc will all need HDMI 2.0 (ARC) or 2.1 (eARC) to work. Optical and Coax can only support SPDIF audio for LPCM or PCM, ac3 and .dts bitstreams.
