I went with my family when I was about 6 years old for Christmas in 1989 when it was just the house. We have been back many times over the years and it always holds a place in my heart.

Living an Organised Life I'm calling Manor House tomorrow to book for mid June, OMG so excited lol If you don't mind may I ask about the food, there are very few pics out there showing what's on offer, how did you and your family do with the food and arrangements? Thanks VERY much in advance of a possible reply x

It was so busy in the dining room so I felt funny about filming in there but I am happy to explain. The food was fantastic, trust me you will not go hungry and you won't need snacks between meals. First check the seating plan which is on the wall outside the dining room so you head to the right table. There is always a huge selection of food and the menu is posted on the wall next to the seating plan so you know the options a day in advance. Then you simply help yourself to whatever you want: starters, main courses and desserts. The only thing served to us was drinks and wine which were added to our room bill at the end of our stay. That being said we mainly had the free water and wine on the free wine nights! There is always salad available and children's food too on a separate serving table. The kids absolutely loved the food and they did try some other foods during our stay so it wasn't all chicken nuggets. One tip is to check out the desserts first (they are in the fridges and warming pans in the furthest room). If you spot something you like then grab it quickly and keep it on your table as the desserts weren't replenished quickly enough for my liking. The best bit for me though was the breakfasts - porridge, a fry up...bliss!! I hope you have a good time and ask for a refurbished room near to the dining hall. You may need a lie down after all that food!

Thanks so much for doing this review I have been asking family to go their for ages. Hopefully the deco their will not be a big damper if we do go. Can I just ask though how much did you budget for cost of activities

I understand that they have started to refurbish some of the rooms, yay!! As for the activities, everything is included in the price i.e. all activities and food (full board). The only things we had to pay for were the bisque figures for painting and the beads for jewellery making. That all cost less than £20. It's such amazing value for money we will probably be going back this year. Thanks for commenting!

What was the food like

I really liked the food. When I went it was a big buffet and the selection and quantity was excellent. We definitely didn’t need snacks during the day. Arrangements may have changed now.

And which is better Manor house or Ashbury?
@LivinganOrganisedLife

Manor House for us. We found that the Ashbury had lots of stag parties and groups of men playing golf so it didn't feel so family friendly for us xx

How much was the hotel? (per night for 4 people)
@LivinganOrganisedLife

If you go on their website you can read the tariff information. I think the minimum is a 2 night stay. We paid approx £950 for the 4 of us staying in a family room for 3 nights xx
