I mean... spears have been in use throughout the entire human history as THE main battlefield weapon. For literal millennia. I don't think this is because it was "basic" and therefore bad. The real reason is because spearmen, especially when deployed in larger numbers, are bloody freakin' effective at killing stuff.

An acre is a chain by a furlong. The chain being the width of the acre and the furlong being the length of the furrow. And yes, an acre is what one man with a team of 8 oxen could plow in a day. The chain is interesting because it, rather than being a rope, was seen as more accurate. If you have a standard chain when pulled taut it won't stretch. And since chain links are hard to make and easier to standardize, if you had a certified chain it would be accurate for much longer(wear of a metal chain is much less of an issue than wear of a rope. Rope stretchers were a common building job before the introduction of the chain. They had a rope, marked out with knots at a standard distance, and would stretch it to verify distances. They were also responsible for checking squareness using pythagorean counting of knots. For example if you need to check a corner for squareness when laying out a plot, you can run three knots on one edge, four knots on the other, and there should be 5 knots returning to the origin, a 3-4-5 triangle. These ancient surveying techniques fascinate me because they're the origin of our attempts to precise mapping and understanding of the world around us. We talk a lot today about "how silly it is" but really they're ingenious developments for their time.

That cliff side is the perfect place to build your manor house. It has the high ground giving you a commanding view and the cliff mean your enemies are limited in where they can attack you.

Leather will fulfill the basic clothing requirement for the villagers. the hunting lodge produces both meat and hides. The tannery takes hides and producers leather. Tannery's stink to high heaven so they do not belong anywhere near your village. The Goat extension for your burgage plots also produce hides, but they do not produce either meat or milk (at least not yet).

Quill, I have so much fun watching you play. Especially when you are playing something new. I have learned so many ways and tricks for playing Rimworld from watching you. Now I can't wait to watch you play Manor Lords. Thank you for all that you do.

For yard production, only the vegetable gardens and the apple orchards benefit from having more space. All other extensions produce the same amount regardless of how big or small the lot is.

There is a custom campaign for StarCraft2 that rebuilds WC3... so you know, the thing Blizzard should have done... It's will sadly take a few more years until every WC3 campaign is added, but if you wanna play WC3, THAT is the way to do it.

@42:27 You did not leave enough room for an extension. You have space to add a second house. Those are different things. The second house goes beside the main house, whiloe the extensions are always in the back yard, behind the house.

When a new family moves into the village, that is 3 people, so the food and firewood supply can go down fast.

That field is way to big. It is unlikely you can plow the whole thing with the number of people you have to work it. You would be better having 3 smaller fields and set up a rotation so that each year 1 is producing rye, 1 produces wheat and the other is fallow. at start, the fields should be only about 1 Morgan in size. Once your village is bigger and you can employee many families in multiple farmhouses, you can have larger fields.

Do folks know why Quill does not duel stream on twitch and youtube like so many other streamers? The rules where you had to be exclusive had ended the other streamers said. I believe it is because KZfaq lets streamers go live in 4k and quill has an unnatural hatred for 4K. 4K killed a family member of his I assume.

You didn't start with any planks. You made them at the sawpit and then they were transported for storage to the storage hut. The Sawpit has storage for 1 log (which it converts to planks) so when ever a log is delivered to the sawpit, the storage is technically full, so it is both a bug and not a bug to get the storage full.

Ah, Sim Copter. I remember you could drop people out of your helicopter over the hospital and the money you'd get for helping an injured person to the hospital was greater than the penalty you got for injuring him.

"The game said to build huge ones (fields) so I built huge ones." No, it said the opposite. It said to start with small fields and then to build huge ones later once your village is much much bigger.
