Hello, just wanted to note, that the song actually does not originate from Llibre vermell de Montserrat, but comes from Cantigas de Santa Maria :)

I've omitted the repetitions of the main Stanza. Also, take into account this is from a language that no longer exists (Galician-Portuguese). I'm no linguist, only a speaker of modern Portuguese, so I wrote the words in the way I think best represents both their medieval writing and actual pronunciation.

From Wikipedia: "The Llibre Vermell de Montserrat (Catalan pronunciation: [ˈʎiβɾə βəɾˈmɛʎ ðə munsəˈrat], "Red Book of Montserrat") is a manuscript collection of devotional texts containing, amongst others, some late medieval songs. The 14th-century manuscript was compiled in and is still located at the monastery of Montserrat outside Barcelona in Catalonia, Spain."

In contrast to the description this is not from the Llibre vermell, but from the Cantigas the Santa Maria. Both are very famous medieval collections, however, the Cantigas de Santa Maria are much older and from the time of the castilian King Alfonso X "The Wise". The cantiga above is No. 302, "A madre de Jhesu Cristo". There are some very accurate versions on YT, however I'm impressed by the quality of the song in the game. I heard the instrumental version in the game and was very interested, because I KNEW the melody but wasn't sure where it came from. However, with the words, it's clearly The Cantigas. The language is galego-portugués, the common ancestor of portuguese and galician. This language had a very high prestige in the 13th century, whereas the Libre vermell is a collection from the 14th century of songs from Montserrat, near Barcelona; as such, it is written in Catalan (some in occitan and a latin with lombard influence). I highly recommend both collections, they give a wonderful insight into medieval spirituality and religion in everyday life. It contrasts heavily with the clichés of the time. Both collections show a very vivid and life embracing era in which longing for eternal life was not a contrast to life itself, but life was heavily connected with the life of the saints.
