We spent a week in Death Valley to film military aircraft flying at low level. This video is part 3 with footage from Wednesday. This was a rare day for us, we got very lucky that there was quite a bit of flying for just one day. Based on our experience, it's a fantastic day if the number of passes breaks double digits for an entire day because there's been days where we've gone out there and seen nothing. :)

I just witnessed it when I hiked up the hill in DV and the reality is absolutely and totally awesome experience , the speed and pure loud scream of the jet engine when you stand just few hundred feet away from the birds is just unbelievable

Epic video thanks for the upload! A few weeks ago we were fortunate enough to have spent a few days and nights at Eureka Dunes in Northern DV where we were overflown at low level by a half dozen F18's and three F16's over two days. It was like having our own personal airshow! As big time aircraft enthusiasts, we welcomed the ear piercing roar of these impressive machines.

Spacegoat92 Mig-28's were a fictional aircraft created by top gun. They used the F-5 tiger to play the role of the Mig-28, however this isn't the F-5 but the T-38 talon, which i believe is a trainer of the USAF.

The video was shot with a Sony FDR-AX1. Each day is different and completely random. We got very lucky with this video, as that was the most we saw in one day across all the trips we've taken. We have seen jets on weekends, but it's typically much less than on weekdays. That being said, there have been days we've been out there, both weekends and weekdays, where we saw absolutely nothing lol, and that's after waiting at least 8 hours per day until sunset. Patience is definitely required. I wish you good luck!

Best time of year? I'd say anytime that's not the summer lol, that's too hot for me. And there's no best time of the week because each day is different. We've been luckier some trips than others, and there's no consistency or pattern that I've ever seen. There's been days where you can sit for hours and see nothing.

This is coming up in our video series named epic rv trip. My question is does anyone know approximate speed of the f-16 ? flybys? Also, just to give a heads up to anyone going there, if they fly overhead they are low, extremely loud and close enough to smell the jet fuel or exhaust. Once in a life time event for sure.

I think pics are obsolete - some 4K video something. Go Pro probably NOT a good idea since need some zoom. Any suggestions? Also, I am a poor guy living on Social Security! Don't know if a used DSLR or a new 4K video rig would be best. I would like to shoot video from inside of car with a remove since hard to control camera mounted behind driver.

From Lone Pine California it's about 41 miles to Father Crowley Point on your way to Death Valley. You take CA-136 east about 18 miles then follow CA-190 east another 23 miles to Father Crowley Point. If coming from the south you will take US-395 north to CA-190. Be aware that in the summer it will be or can be HOT!

Raptorman0909 thank you! And do you use a military radio??? Or is it a radio for communication with other spotters
@Raptorman0909
@Raptorman0909 7 жыл бұрын
Actually Thomas the last time I drove past Father Crowley Point was before I knew about its use as a low level flight training location so I've never personally seen AC there and I'm not sure what the radio freq's are. I do have a scanner and I suspect that someone there would be able to provide the appropriate freq's. I'm not sure where you're coming from but in addition to watching AC at FCP/Jedi Transition you can also visit Death Valley, Cerro Gordo, Lone Pine and Mount Whitney and further north along US-395 there's Mono Lake, the ghost town of Bodie, and Yosemite NP. Of course, I would not recommend Death Valley from April through October owing to the insane heat. I once drove through DV and the temperature was 126F or 52C.
