Parts of Manteo are pretty scrappy looking. A few new, modern neighborhoods. Wanchese seemed very poor. Maybe I just didn't go to the right places. Anyway, I enjoyed seeing the Waterside show and a few eateries. I really liked Duck and Corolla; we stayed in Kitty Hawk. We flew out of the Manteo airport for a helicopter tour. That was a lot of fun; I almost threw up and the pilot had to give me a bag. Thankfully, I did not. LOL. We flew over Andy Griffith's home. He had already passed away right before we were there. We plan on going back in May

I love the Outer Banks but wouldn't want to live there. Lots of nice places to visit but living there is a whole different story.

Vacation in Nags head every year. Always make a trip to manteo. Took a guided walking tour at night! Very enjoyable!

Looks like the people at 1:28 are having their house raised above flood level. As for the Lost Colony, the most likely theory is that realizing their situation was dire, most of the members blended into the local tribe. For a few generations afterwards other settlers recalled seeing surprisingly light Native people.
