Great review, I will be looking into this tool further. Could see this as a good add on for coming up with your rifle, and working on target acquisition speed. Side note your videos are getting better the more you do, can see you are getting more comfortable with the camera. Keep of the great work, also great content.

I have the one that does everything you can use it on pistols, rifles, & bows. Also, it has a live fire mode.

I definitely understand and respect the need for dry fire practice. I just wish there was something that provided some recoil.

Why do you feel recoil even matters in this?

@@benjamin3615 why wouldn’t it matter? I want my training to be as close to real world as possible. I’ve seen other training companies use co2 to simulate the slide reciprocating so I know it’s possible.

@@danielsullivan7740 Recoil doesn't matter because the point of this training aid is to practice trigger pulls, finger placement, sight alignment, target acquisition and better handling to name a few. The point of the training aid isn't to simulate live fire, but rather give an option to make practicing these things more fun. Recoil isn't really a variable when your goal is to improve on these things. Besides, I've been shooting ARs since I was old enough to buy my own rifle. When accuracy is a goal, I'm not shooting fast enough for recoil to really affect my aim or throw things off enough to where I have to reset and lose sight of the target. (Using irons or 1x red dot) Besides, I can see a myriad of uses for this training aid that could benefit me and others. Like using it to practice home defense and learning the holdovers and POI/POA shifts for my rifle at different distances found in my home, or using it when I don't have the time or the childcare to be able to go to the range. Or when we find ourselves in another ammo shortage, it's a good tool to keep our skills sharp. Similarly, it's a good tool for my pregnant wife to keep practicing since shooting (noise and lead) are hazardous to our unborn child's health. But like I said, the point isn't to replace live fire but rather supplement it. Plus, this company makes a product that you can take to the range and do live fire with.

@@benjamin3615 absolutely everything you just said I completely know and understand. However for you to even remotely sit there and pretend that recoil management isn’t something to practice is absurd. Never once did I ever say that all the things you stated above isn’t important it is. HOWEVER, my point is it would be nice if they came out with a device that simulated recoil. Yet, here you are acting is if I don’t know all the things you mentioned aren’t important. Dear God man.

I’ve noticed some when firing the bore laser does not shut off on some people’s. On yours it flashed per shot, which I would prefer. Is the laser on/off with each manipulation of the trigger a standard setting on all or does that vary ? I don’t want to buy the incorrect one

Nice video, thank you. Just received my system and trying to get it set up. Is there a drill like a “shoot house” drill where you have targets set up in various rooms and you shoot each target as you move from room to room?

I've seen people claim to be able to do this, but idk how the system even knows if you're hitting the target, especially without the phone looking at the target, which would definitely be the case on multiple targets spaced around. I'll come back and comment again if I find any more information

Does it actually know if you hit the target, or does it just assume you shoot when on the bullseye, and then adjusts your movement based on that? I don't see how it could know when the phone isn't even looking at the target, especially when I've seen people claiming to use this on a "course" setup with multiple targets spaced around.

How could you not use the biggest part of the tool, the shot scoring using the camera to see where you actually hit the target and "Score" you. the movement sensors just show movement, not accuracy.

curious if you zero the laser to where your red dot hits at such a short distance, or you are applying holdover. my Sig Rattler is zeroed at 25 meters using subsonic rounds through a suppressor. I have it as my primary home defense weapon, but no where indoors will i ever shoot at 25 meters. So do i train for that holdover required, knowing that if i engage a target at 7 meters or less i will have to aim much higher due to the offset between the RDS and my barrel, or do i sight in the mantis for a much closer distance (IOW not as the weapon is zeroed for an actual round).

I was wondering this as well. I would zero it with the appropriate hold overs to train for the real deal. You could potentially create a training scar if you don’t. Although in close quarters, hitting a couple of inches low will still do the trick. A precision shot would be the defining moment, such as a hostage taker. Like I’ve heard my whole adult life, “practice how you play”

A lot of reviews on optics planet say this thing barely lasted one session of practice. Anyone have issues with it?

I won't speak for this particular version, but I do have the original Blackbeard as well as the X10 Elite, and both of them have lasted for many, many, many training sessions. The X10 Elite I have has well over 20,000 rounds put through it and is chugging along nicely. It's well worth the price of admission, and then some.
