I have a theory about why folks keep damsels with mantis shrimp. It's because damsels are the salt water equivalent to gold fish. Inexpensive (well, so far as salties go) and readily available.

you have totally inspired me bro, planning to get my set up after Christmas (wallet recovery time), cant wait but i have a question? will the tank be ok in a colder room as in an outhouse? it gets pretty cold in winter not far from outdoor temps.

im trying to figure out the wattage for keeping a tank like this, heating pumps filtration systems, etc. since theyre kept on 24/7 i feel like the power consumption could be pretty high

not really no. ive got a 30l tank with a few kg of rock, sand, a heater, a wave maker, and a basic hang on filter. the setup itself has just got cheato growing in it and a light.

One time I came home and went to see my mantis shrimp then I went to look at the temperature and it was really high then I saw that the thermometer was broken because my mantis shrimp punched it 😂
