Yes, I used this motor to get the correct rotation speed the traditional way (using line frequency) but I am working on a 12 volt model that will use pwm or something similar to get the correct rotation speed, thanks for watching!

@@RockProductionsYT thanks for letting me know, I have only recently got into sirens, really find them special. Here in Ireland the 4hp gents was commonly used atop fire stations, and very occasionally they come up for sale so I’m keeping an eye out for one to restore

@Creeperboy099 no, this siren does not use a Brushless DC motor, it uses a single phase shaded pole motor running at 230 volts at 50 hertz

It's not any of those, though if you're new to electricity/electronics, i would experiment with Brushless or brushed DC motors first. This model is probably using a form of Shaded pole motor which uses 240v AC - absolutely ruthless voltage and can easily kill you if you don't know what you're doing. The speed of these AC motors is determined by the frequency of the AC (50Hz in the UK and many other places) which gives these sirens a very specific pitch. In order to get the DC motors to this pitch, you'll either need to experiment with half or double port ratios depending on motor RPM and/or utilise different voltages (for brushed) or PWM speed control (for brushless).
