Manual or auto? Which is your gearbox of choice?

I own Ignis AMT, initially i did not like it, i like manual, but now in Hyderabad traffic i am enjoying the AMT, if you drive AMT aaram se, its best no jerks or lag.

I own Manual, driving manual for more than 2 decades.. my next car will be CVT or Torque Convertor .. yes, you rightly point out to avoid stress .. 😊😊

For me all the automatic cars are just like gadgets but the manual has some character in it which differentiate cars and gadgets. That's why I have diesel manual xuv300.

Yes manual transmission is a better pick, but at what cost ? The city traffic is absolutely on it's peak throughout the day, people spending 10 lakhs on a car then going for therapy to fix knee joints after driving in city traffic, instead the IMT was introduced to reduce the cost of an automated transmission so that even a person on low budget can afford the convenience and luxury of an automatic. Neither you are nor am i a NASCAR professional driver that we need a downshift or upshift on the blink of an eye. Try to keep up with the technology and research that the car makers are investing for their customers to make their driving experience wonderful. The IMT transmission has been designed according to the ideal driving habits that one should have even while driving a manual transmission.

Automatic is an boon in these times of rapidly increasing traffic in our country and the same road infrastructure from last 5 to 6 years

I own City 4th gen petrol manual and XUV 700 Petrol AT. Both have their own charm. Manual gives you better efficiency, and you feel like you have more control over the car in any situation. Manual also gives a raw feeling to car enthusiasts. In contrast, Automatic is very very comfortable in city of highway, no need to control clutch in city traffic or during overtakes on highway. Automatic gives a trouble free experience. It's hard to pick.

Had manual Swift previously. Suffered a lot in city traffic. Now switched to Brezza AT, feeling the goodness of AT

I like manual and own Taigun1.0 tsi manual. As an enthusiastic driver i like it and enjoy the manual. BUT in heavy traffic conditions I always prefer Automatics. It’s not that fun driving a manual in bumper to bumper traffic . I always prefer DCT if buying an automatic and second TC . I prefer German.

I have a 2017 manual Honda Jazz petrol. Its clutch is very stiff and made my life miserable in Pune's chaotic traffic. I didn't have the resources to sell the car and get a new automatic one. Luckily, I found a service provider in Pune itself who installed a contraption which made my car like an IMT. It is a bit jerky but at least my knee could be saved. I never switch to manual - ever.

I don't know how AT will help you in traffic , anyhow you are bound to use single leg for both break and acceleration, doesn't it hurt , u ppl opined as you are not even using a leg as a part of driving, use manual where both the legs are involved in a function and it's a cost cutting in every aspect I prefer using 2 hands and 2 legs in driving a vehicle what ever it would be, i dont want to rest my half body as dead on dead pedals Real men uses 3 pedals

A diesel engine matted to a Torque converter is best for Indian scenario, A super reliable gearbox which is matted to a torquey engine which will give you the push and comfort in traffic with no heating issues whatsoever. I have Creta 1.6 dsl Auto with 1.5 lacs on oddo and I haven't spent anything other than the regular maintenance.

I feel nowadays in metropolitan cities like Bangalore, Mumbai automatic makes sense... Always meter to metre traffic.

Torque Converter is my favourite ... BTW you missed to tell the difference between CVT and IVT

7 months down the line Hyundai has chucked your favourite iMT 😛.. Hyundais & Marutis are still happy to still have AMT though 🤷‍♀️.. I have a Nexon AMT from past 5 yrs now!.. Im really happy with my car..

both feels needed for enthusiasts, but will favour manual more.

Hi, I have purchased seltos HTK IMT Diesel, it was delivered 2 weeks back. Existing IMT Users, Anyone faced issues with creep/crawl/hill start assist functionality in first gear in IMT gearbox, when I am stuck at traffic signals, and roads has small slopes like 5 degrees or 10 degrees, then in first gear, the crawl/hill start assist functionality does not work as expected, my car rolls backwards slightly and I have to manually press accelerator ASAP to avoid further rollback. The car does not hold for 3 seconds at all, it rolls backwards as soo as i release the break. Same thing happens for reverse gear, if there is 5-10 degrees slope, car moves forward, and i have to press accelerator ASAP to avoid movement ahead. FYI , hill assist feature working fine on steep slopes in hilly roads, mall ramps. The car holds for 2-3 seconds and enough time to move ahead without rollback.

What about cars coming in CVT box which uses torque converter also?

Two highly skilled mechanical engineers are discussing about their tech knowledge, i guess but it is a foreign language for me 😂😂😂

I drive IMT . IMT is the best . Mileage is in your hands and at the same time no worry about clutch in traffic

Wondering if DSG problems are really solved in India 2.0 skoda/vw cars. I have started planning. So need user feedbacks. After seeing lots of videos and looking at teambhp, it seems older generation cars had this gearbox issue. But needed a concrete feedback.

Manual Transmission is like driving a Motor cycle with gear, while Auto transmission is like driving a scooty. Manual transmission is like using a DSLR in a manual mode, where you control everything. Automatic transmission is more like a Hot-Shot camera.

Simple for highway gear and city amt but My pick is amt bcz i get manual gear also in amt i use gears in highways and hill and in city i shift to amt

I have a 2017 hyundai i10 automatic torq converter four cylinder,breeze to drive.Sad Hyundai has stopped production of these small hyclass torq converter

I love the power I love the feel and stability and rawness now bcs of 10 yr rule I hv to upgrade preferably to diesel automatic or amt in a suv body type... recently drove tuv300 in amt liked the rawness and feel factor but it was too sluggish so I want u to tell me what r some other options I hv a budget of approx 20 lacs. I am open for even going to a used car but should be easy to maintain... so what do u think
