Very nicely done lad! You execute the trills very well and play this as if you were playing in front of Louis XIV aka the sun king!

Am trying to learn this for my grade 8 exam. It appears you may playing a different score to the one published in the Trinity book. Am I right?? Any Tips on how to play this?

Hi there, Darren. Thanks for your interest! Yes, this is my own transcription with a few changes from the version in the Trinity book. Maybe you can see from the video some technical things that might be of help to you in playing the piece--best of luck with it!

Thank you Alan! Can anyone kindly explain what an "etouffe" is, (it is an indication in the Trinity score) I thought it belongs more to violin technique, is it similar to a pizzicato? Many thanks.

Hi David, in terms of guitar technique, "etouffe" basically means the same thing as "pizzicato". It's really just the equivalent term in French. Hope that helps! Alan

Thanks for this it is a lovely piece of music and sounds as if it was made for the guitar (I prefer it to the orchestral version). I will have to learn it when I’ve played a bit longer (been playing for just over a year but am a long time pianist).The guitar looks beautiful too: who made it?

Many thanks! It's one of my favourite transcriptions too, so glad you like it! The guitar is made by an American luthier called Thomas Rein. Cheers, Alan

@@AlanThomasGuitar Thanks have you published this? Only transcription i can find is in a volume of Falla transcriptions published by Mel Bay. I have ordered that.
@AlanThomasGuitar3 жыл бұрын
@@mattbod No I haven't published it unfortunately--I should probably get on to that!

@@AlanThomasGuitar Look forward to that! I have bought a book of De Falla arrangements published by Mel Bay. The arrangement is very similar to yours but the opening chords are an octave higher. I think it is the version Annabel Montesinos plays here. I love the Dance of the Willow the Wisp on guitar too Happy Christmas.
