In this case however, the ball was near Higuain and Neuer is further from the ball, therefore *Higuain has the precedence on it and not Neuer* . That's a straight red card because Neuer didn't care about Higuain's safety and went on the ball anyway, hitting Higuain's face with his knee, as another one on the comments said, he could've kill him. Careless move from a great keeper who is sometimes rushy on his moves tho. And the foul happened in the penalty area so therefore that should've been a penalty and Argentina could've taken the lead. Messi rightly won and here's why: Messi made 5 goal contributions out of the 7 total Argentina goals while Neuer made 4 clean sheets out of a total of 7 games - that means Messi had a bigger involvement in his teams goals than Neuer had in his teams defense. Also, Messi won 5 World Cup Man Of The Match, Neuer 0 ( Keylor Navas won 3, just to show that keepers could of course win one ). And also because Neuer should've been expelled at 3:00 for carelessness of Higuain's safety. Higuain is more near the ball, he has the precedence, Neuer instead enters in a careless way and hits Higuain in the face with his knee. All of that happened in the penalty area, therefore that was a red and a penalty for Argentina.
